1st Trip, Help no LP water heater!
Well its our first day out with the new Monty. The LP side of the water heater is not working. I flipped the switch on the panel to on and the burner never came on. I have LP because I lit the stove and ran the fridge on LP on the trip. The red light next to the on/off switch doesn't come on, but nothing happens. I checked every 12v fuse on the inside panel and they are good. All the breakers are on. The reset switches in the heater panel didn't need reset. Is there a fuse somewhere near the batteries? If anyone can help I would appreciate it. Thanks.

The only thing I can offer is on our rig there are two switches that have to be thrown for the electric side of the water heater. One of these switches is outside beneath the water heater cover, lower left hand side. If the cotter pin is in place, then the electric is disabled. We then also have to throw a switch inside the unit.

Thanks, mine is the same. That end is working. Its the LP that isn't firing. I don't think I am getting any power to the switch but I don't have a tester to check it.

When you hit the switch for LP, a red light should come on, and when the heater fires up, the light will go out. I think you are right, first thing to check is that switch for power. You didn't indicate if the electric side was working? If you were using electric, and water was still hot, the propane side will not fire up until thermostat recognizes a temp cooldown. I dont think there are any other fuses, inline or other, other than what you have already checked.

You’ve probably already done this but I would turn off the gas heater switch and let it sit for a min or two then turn it on again. It may take a few tries to get the air out of the line to the water heater. The gas will try to light and if it doesn’t get lit it will quit trying. That is the reason for trying it after turning it off and then back on. It may take 2-3 tries if that’s the problem. If you hear a clicking sound it’s trying to light.

Thanks for the replies. I tried the LP first. So there was no hot water in the tank, just cold. It wasn't doing anything, no clicking no sounds at all from the ignition outside when I turned the switch to on. I had my neighbor stand next to it while I flipped the switch and nothing happened. I tried the reset procedure from the book with no luck. I turned on the electric element and it heated right up. We have plenty of hot water with electric. I left the propane switch on hoping to hear the burner fire up while we were showering this morning but it never fired. I'll check the switch when I get home and if I can't get it working I'll take it to the dealer.

You've got a new 2012 unit. I'd take it to the dealer right away since it is under warranty and if you by chance mess something up trying to repair it yourself they may not want to honor the warranty. Don't gamble and let the dealer find the cause! Keep us informed!

Check the wires in the back of the 12V breaker pannel....often they don't get all the wires tightly secured.

Sure sounds like a power issue, particularly since no initial red light when you flip on.

Thanks for all the replies. We made it home yesterday. The list of problems got longer as the week got longer. Its all little stuff and I made an appointment with the dealer to have it fixed. The water heater was the first issue, then the kitchen slide trim hung up on the floor trim and almost pulled the trim off the left side when we set up at the 2nd campground. The left rear stabilizer hangs up on the motor when I put it all the way up and then it won't come back down, there is an LP leak somewhere on the outside of the coach in the left tank compartment, dryer vent came unhooked so we couldn't use the w/d after the 3rd day, shower door leaked, I caulked that, and some other minor stuff that made the list. Other than that we had a good trip.
