Which One...Made The Order

The first Montana we looked at was the 2980 (several months ago)...we thought it was big...after using our small TT. Over the past months we looked at just about all of them and yesterday, decided we'd take one more confirmatory look at the 2980, then order it. Well, seems after seeing the other Montanas, the 2980 looked too small! DW liked the 3000RK...but the refrig sits on top of a huge storage drawer and at 5' 1", can't see in the freezer...liked the floor plan of the 3295RK, but did not like the chair sitting in front of the door. So we finally decided to order a 2007 3400RL!

For those interested in 2007 models, the base prices went up only about $150. The only other price increase was the Hi Gloss Gel coat, it went up $165 for the shorter models and $320 for the 3295RK and longer.

Thanks to the information provided in the thread regarding pricing, we got 26.6% off the MSRP.

They said the delivery date will be August, we'll see...I'll keep you posted.

All right, another wayward camper saw the light and came over to the 3400 eliete group of people. Shoot the way that thing is selling we might even have enough people to start a 3400RL member only thread.
HA
Congrats on your decision, I know you will like the model. We are sure proud of ours.
When you get around to getting to the details, we can fill you in on the Blue Coiled hose, flashlights that don't work and all that other stuff in the docking bay that no one seems to know anything about.

We know the drill.Started with the 3295..then the 3670..and finally the 3400. It is a big camper but you are going to really like it. There is a handout of the convenience center (docking station) we got one at the Toledo Rv show in Jan. You did good on the pricing and it's about time they charge by size of the the camper for the High Gloss gel coat. They are pretty good on delivery dates..ours was right on time. Welcome to the 3400 club..

Congrats on your new order.
He bought a 2980RL last November and love the unit. My wife couldn't do with any less countertop.
Our dealer did not have any 3400 at the time or we probably would have bought that instead. We're not ones to order and wait, Just write the cheque and bring that little puppy home. Our unit is plenty big enough for the kind of RVing we do and we would probably not full time it, at least not right now. If we did we would probably go 3400.
Enjoy J&D

Congratulations on your new purchase. I am still trying to find places to put things in our new 3400. We saw it and fell in love with the model two years ago. I think we looked at every make model and floor plan out there but still came back to the 3400.

Happy camping!

Congratulations!!! We are going on our second year with our 2005 - 3400 and we love it! We are still in the talking stage about full time yet as hubby is not ready to give up all the toys! I could move into the 3400 today and be happy as a clam - less housework! Welcome to the board and yes maybe we could have a thread for the 3400 owners!

Does anyone know why all of the 2007s are 13 inches longer than the same model 2006?

Can't explain it, but my dealer gave me a factory "Specifications" sheet.
Using the 3400RL we just ordered, the normal brochure says the ext length is 37'1" (not including hitch pin). The Spec sheet gives two lengths, one is ext length 37'3", and one is ext length cap to bumper 38'4". All are not the same and the difference is not 13" for all of them. If you'll tell me which one you are looking at, I'll give you the numbers from the spec sheet.

Cat320 - I think I am mostly interested in the 3075RL because of its carrying capacity.

The 3075 is almost the same as the 2980 except for the counter top. Here is the brochure data for the 2980 (3075 is not in the brochure):

Length, excluding hitch pin: 32'

Spec sheet data for 2980: Ext length: 33'5", ext length cap to bumper: 34'.

Spec sheet data for 3075: Ext length: 33'7", ext length cap to bumper 34'8".

I'm with you...I'd like to know what the difference is between the 2980's brochure length of 32' and spec sheet's length of 33'5".

Greetings All,

I love pointing out the fact that the bigger dealers typically have some number of spec. units moving down the Montana production line - just for those people who want to buy and take home without the wait - and they always need something on the lot to show. Such was the case with our dealer.

We asked our sales guy to see what they already had in the production queue that could be converted to our order. He looked, said yes, and 4 weeks later we had our "built to our specifications" unit delivered.

They had a 3400RL already on spec order with filon sides and desert sunset interior - these seem to be the major things that can not be easily changed. They changed the spec. order to include a fireplace, change from King to Queen bed, add slide awnings, change the location of the fantastic fan, install WD prep, and 2nd AC prep. There were a few interior things also like adding in the lamp, end table, and coffee table - which can always be last minute changes.

Everyone ordering should check into this approach as you can often get your "ordered" unit sooner, and the dealership gets all your money sooner.

It worked great for us - 4 weeks and exactly what we wanted!

Our 3475rl measures 39.75 from beginning to end. I have measured it three times I always say we need 40 ft to park plus our TV with slides on both sides and a very high profile. They know we mean business and don't try to give us a site that we can't get into. Works for us.

CAT320, throw the spec sheets away on the length numbers - not even close. You seriously need a tape measure. 3400 at Toledo show in Feb was spec'ed at 37'3" - measured at 39'1". That's almost 2 feet difference. I see the 2007s are spec'ed at 38'2". Does this mean ours will come out of the plant in July at 40+ feet???

Congrats on your new 3400! (FINALLY, someone who has to wait longer than me for a 3400...)

CAT320 - " The 3075 is almost the same as the 2980 except for the counter top."

I agree that they look almost the same but, the 3075 has 1300 lbs more carrying capacity and 150 lbs less hitch weight. I don't understand why they would be so different.

adelmoll- Your measurements for your 3475RL are exactly what the spec sheet says...37'9".

dsprik- The spec sheet is exactly correct, it's the brochure that is wrong.

BirdingRVer- The spec sheet shows the 3075 as having an empty pw of 60 less than the 2980. The reason for the extra carrying capacity is that the 2980s have GAWR of 5200 and the 3075s have GAWR of 6000.

I called Keystone today...here's what they said: The brochure's "Exterior Length" is chassis only. The spec sheet I have lists the overall length, from the front cap to the rear bumper/ladder. On average you have to add 1 1/2' to the brochure length to get overall length. Some are more (add 2' for the 2980), some less (add 1' for the 3475RL.

Think I'll start a new thread on this.

Cat320, I was thinking of the Official Keystone-Montana website where the "Specifications" are listed. Where did you get a Spec sheet from?

The spec sheet came from my dealer.

It has all sorts of info including 'actual' weights, such as GVWR, hitch/axle % weight, shipping weight, carrying cap weight, interior label weight, net capacity weight, hitch weight, dry axle weight, and GAWR. Even has the date of last actual weigh.

Ask your dealer for one. At the top is says "2006 MONTANA FW'S" and "SPECIFICATIONS". It is dated 2/17/2006.
