I know for a fact it does help whatever the difference. We have been in some very cold weather, and the unit stayed pretty toasty. I did run a small propane Mr Heat heater to suppliment in order to save on propane. The floors were always warm. We did keep a window cracked as well as a roof vent to eliminate any condinsation issues.
