You trying to open a can of worms? Everyone has a diffrent opinion, you'd be better off asking people out on the street. Three friends of mine have Fords, all had trouble for a few months but its all been fixed. Several have Dodges, havent't heard any troubles about them.(noisy). I know alot of people with Chevy or GMC,s and they all love them. So it's up to you which one you like the most and what you want to pay. My wife and I were pulling into a campground one time and she say's," wow they just bought a new Dodge". I said "yea, they couldn't afford a new Chevy". Now I know I'm going to take some grief from this but I had to say it. Sorry guys.

Each to their own opinion, but you should check the internet on all 3.
To get a good truck puller, they all start in the low $ 40,000.

You're right about the can of worms.
Shopping price and customer service is the main factor.
I bought my Dodge 3500 for $33. It was a 2004 left over after the 2005's came out. I have enjoyed my Dodges but like the other MOC'er said, "Maybe I can't afford a Chevy."

No need to ask such a question. Just go thru the forum and check out the individual signatures. If he is driving a GMC/Chevy he will tell you the GMC/Chevy is the most reliable. Which by the way it is. Of course the Ford and Dodge people will go with what they are driving. 99.99% of the time the recommended, and therefore most reliable, TV is whatever we are driving and our male EGO will not allow us to say otherwise. In all the years that I have been frequenting these type forums not once did some Ford owner say, "Darn, I shoulda bought a Duramax!" He may think it but he will never say it out loud.

Oh it is so nice that we know ourselves. GMC vote here. Especially if you are getting an '06. The new 6 speed Allison is great as well as the new souped up Duramax.
Happy trails...................

It took General Motors long enough to come up with extendable mirrors, they kinda look like the Ford mirrors, been a Chevy person for many years before I bought the Powerstroke, funny how one thing such as mirrors would influence the decision to spend $40K, might look at a Chevy next time. I am not 100% committed to a Ford, I think the power the Duramax creates is awesome.
Otherwise, all the diesels do an excellent job. All are rated to pull what you are looking for, don't know that any of the big three is any "better" than the others, just make sure what you buy is what you and your pocketbook are comfortable with.

They're all good trucks. Some have different features. I'm a Ford guy but if I had the money, I'd buy the Chevy Duramax. If my Ford wears out, you'll see me in the Chevy. Who said a Ford guy wouldn't admit there was another truck he liked?

All of the big 3 have good trucks, but you might want to consider weights if your 5er weighs in at 15000 lbs. Say you go with a 4x4 CC automatic dually, Chevy is rated 16000 lb 5th wheel towing, Ford is 15600 with a 4.10 rear end. If you go with the Tow Boss on the Ford, it takes it up to 18100. I would say Dodge is in the 15-16000 lb range, don't have a brochure here to check. You will be in with your weight, but it could be close. Also, might want to check your GCWR to make sure you aren't exceeding it.

All 3 make excellent tow vehicles. It comes down to which you like, and that varies from person to person ("looks", panel layout, passenger room, etc etc). I suggest driving each one (comparable models), and then deciding on your own specific criteria. You can't go wrong with any of them, as long as you've matched the actual towing needs to the truck.

You will see by my signature I bought a Cummins, it came wrapped in a Dodge. Dodge wasn't my first choice in trucks, but Cummins was. A 6 cylinder engine has 1/3 fewer moving parts than an 8 and moving parts are what wear out. Cummins developes its' torque at lower RPM than Isuzu or International so that also contributes to longevity. There are Cummins in Dodges that are nearing or have passed 1 million miles. Not many of the others can say that. If you want to calculate like the big boys do, calculate "piston travel per mile". The less piston travel, the longer the engine lasts. With proper care, that is. JMHO.

All 3 offer different things, just find the one that says take me home tonight and buy it. As long as you are happy that is all that matters.

All three make decent engines and trucks. For me I bought a Ford because I have a 6'5" son who didn't fit well in the back seat of a Chevy or Dodge. Now that he is on college I will probably consider all three when purchasing my next truck. For me it is more about the dealer and how they treat you. Make sure they have a decent mechanic who knows how to work on diesel's. Ask what they are driving.
For now I am content with the 6.0 in my ford. One thing I would stay away from is one who has just come out with something all new and different as they will have some initial problems. You couldn't have given me a new ford when the original '03s came out. They had a few issues and I was not about to be a guinea pig. The new rules on diesel for '07s will change everything again next year.

Like Orv said, if I ever wear out my Powerstroke, I'd look at a Duramax.

We have a Ford F350 dually but it is not because i did tons of research. Actually, my wife picked it out because it most matched the Monty. I think all three have their pros and cons. I have always had good luck with Fords but have also have owned both Dodge and Chevy trucks. Have done well with all three.
