Nope. In fact, here in Island Park, ID, diesel went up 14 cents per gallon between that day and the next. Not down. Most stations here sell diesel for $2.899. We pulled into a station in Island Park yesterday that did not have diesel prices posted and saw the pump says 2.799 so we topped off our tank. We haven't been into West Yellowstone in a few days but they are higher than Island Park in the past.
As for not worrying about fuel prices, well, we do worry about it. Putting 35k to 40k miles on the truck each year including lots of towing, we use a lot of fuel and that additional cost is a lot of money.

I was wondering for you full timers is the price going to change your way of traveling. Will you stay in places longer than before. They said this morning that fuel may get to 3.00 by Labor day. Ouch. We usually camp within 50 Miles or so So can get by on one tank. But have a couple of longer trips planned too. Guess you can't take it with you.

One nice thing about our new truck - it came with a full tank of fuel!
Happy trails.......................

Well the truck is parked for the season. We are just not going to pay the price. If we all keep sending the message that we will pay any price for fuel then we WILL pay higher and higher prices. If those of us who can stop will stop and those who can cut back will cut back we just MIGHT make a difference.Supply and demand is what we are told..then lets cut then demand.. I do not like to be a victim.

Gas is 2.59 here (some places slightly less) and diesel is 2.59 or more everywhere.
Got an email from my uncle at the Pentagon, showing the relative price per gal of gas in many different countries... Oddly enough... the biggest gouges were going to the western European and US/Canada..
Gas was less than a buck a gal in Riyadh Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Venezuala, and a couple other places.... Seems like MOST of the gouging is coming from our friends with the OIL WELLS on the ground...

Sue, each of our last five new trucks came with a full tank of fuel but, alas, they eventually had to be refilled!
Ron, we have started staying in one place longer, anyhow, so that has helped to offset the increase in prices. However, if it keeps going then we will have to stay even longer in one place. Or rethink the whole fulltiming thing. Or start drawing more on the retirement money, which is not something I really want to do. The funds are not unlimited and I want to make sure they last as long as we do!
We are often staying in our destination locations for a month. Occasionally two months if we feel we can fill that time with interesting things. We still do overnights and two or three nights here and there, particularly when enroute to a destination. But overall we're staying longer in one place.

There is still great variation in prices in the same area. Within a 10 mile radius I saw diesel anywhere from $2.89 to $3.19 per gallon. Unfortunately, the $2.89 price was at a truck stop where the fuel nozzles are the large size that won't fit my pickup.

Part of the problem is that to many of us do not worry about fuel prices. As long as we don't worry about the price of fuel the folks that set the prices won't worry about it either.

Well We are not going to stop camping. We bought our Montana to camp in and we are going to do that. As long as I feel we can afford to buy the fuel we will go. We will not go as far as maybe we would but we will so go. We are going somewhere the next two weekends and then to the Montana rally at Pla-mor Then to Van Wert Oh for a fall camp out. We will stay home one weekend and then go to Brown County for our FCRV invitational camp out. Then just a couple more in Oct. We probably do no more that 50-75 Miles. The brown county one will be about 125. This is the only thing that we do.

Bill Hill, is there any relatively simple way to adapt your filler to handle the larger nozzles? We very frequently fill up at the truck pumps with the Montana in tow simply because the car pumps don't really facilitate our size. I can't imagine having to deal with that situation when in tow. Surely there's a 'fix' for this?

Some truck accessory place has the bigger filler neck that you can put in. At least on the 99-02 models. I'll have to look in my powerstroke mag and see if I can find it. If I do I'll post back here.

Diesel is holding at 2.46 here in North Texas. I guess we are a little better off than some. The problem is that tank will only get you to where the fuel is higher. Guess I'll start camping closer to home for awhile.

I filled up at Winder, Georgia again on saturday for $2.45. That remains the cheapest place as diesel in other cities in our immediate area goes for up to 2.59. Diesel is still slightly lower than regular unleaded here.

Bill Hill I found the place for the filler neck but went and looked to see what you had. The ones I saw were for 99-00 Ford. Guess that won't work for you Sorry.
If any Ford people need it here is the web site www.fordspecialists.com

I was pleasently surprised to find my new GMC accepts the larger nozzle. Will make life easier filling at truck stops.
BTW-Found diesel at 2.41 per gallon at a local reservation. This low price encouraged me to stay put another week. Only problem is I also caved in and went to the casino in Niagra Falls, Ontario. So much for saving some bucks.
