Factory tour and campgrounds

In the planning stages to take the factory tour. Is the tour worth the trip - 8 hrs away. What campgrounds would you recommend for us to stay? When are tours offered? And last question, what other attractions are considered a must see? Thanks, Mike

Call the factory, days and times of tours change.

is it worth it?? SO SO SO worth it!

Can't go wrong with Elkhart County Fairgrounds campground.

Why not come during the Fall Rally, you will get a special tour and get to meet us all.

Don't miss: RV museum up in Ekhart. Shipshiwanna. A quiet drive on the back roads, watch out for Amish buggies, they don't go as fast as we do! Ekhart County is beautiful.

Great eateries all around, bring wallet!

One of our fav places to visit, have been so many times we lost count, could go on for hours about it. But won't.

X3 Shipshewana also has a couple RV parks within walking distance of the village.

We are frequently in the Goshen area as our kids live there. We stay at the Shipshewana South CG. Pull thru sites with full hook up, 30/50 amp service. There are shops in Shipshewana to visit and on Tuesdays the flea market is open. There are RV surplus/salvage stores in the area that are worth the visit if looking for "stuff". As stated earlier the RV Museum is a great visit. For food; Lux's Restaurant is good for breakfast and lunch. Be aware, when ordering eggs, if you order two you get four! The Essenhaus has good food as does the Blue Gate restaurant in Shipshewana. A visit to Yoder's in SHipshewana is good as well for cheese, jerky, and other meat and food stuffs.

Goshen has a bunch of quirky little restaurants, everyone we tried was good. If you intend to do any mods to your rig the factory tour is a must. Seeing how they are put together helps the confidence factor when you start drilling and cutting. My advise is not to use the fairgrounds to camp in until you have to for the rally unless you really like trains or you can put your hearing aids on the night stand at night.

Thanks for the responses. We have one child still in school and too young to be home alone for that long - so that puts the Rally out of the question for this year. A side note - years ago on a business trip, I sidetracked through the Goshen area, didn't have time to stop and tour, and was amazed by the area. Thanks again, Mike
