landing gear travel
Does anyone know the travel of the front landing gear from full retract to full extension? I don't feel like replacing a fuse or jumping a tooth to find full ext.

According to Venture, there is 19-20" of safe travel built into the landing gear. This is just one of many interesting things you will learn reading their different pieces of documentation. I previously offered to send anyone a copy of the 10+ PDFs if they PM's or emailed me their address. The offer still stands.

Some people have make their landing gear legs, so that they do not over extend or retract to far.Takes the guess work out.

yes mine is marked for the retracted limit. Just looking for the limit for safe travel fully extended, I don't want to rip anything up. To make a long story short, I'm making my own stabilizers and all the measurements I can get will help.

Kevin, I see by your signature that you have a 2012. Aren't the front landing gear legs hydraulic or, am I missing something?

My hydraulics are very slow on my '06. For this reason I try to limit the movement and use the drop down part of the legs for most of the height changes. When towing I only move the hydraulic part of the leg so that it is no higher then the bottom of my TV's bumper, then raise the drop down part up as high as it goes. Unless the site is very uneven front to back, this really minimizes the time and distance for the hydraulic to travel. I'm pretty confident (and I continue to hope) I'll be able to stay within the maximum travel especially if it's anywhere near what "Carl n Susan" reported.

I was thinking that Keystone started putting hydraulic landing gear legs on Montana in 2011. It might have been an option. Shortly there after, they began installing LCI's 6-point level up system. I thought all 2012's had hydraulic landing gear but again, I could be wrong.
The reason the old Challenger has the early version of hydraulic landing gear is a long and boring story from my time at Lippert years ago. Since then, I think they have made huge improvements in the reliability in this system. My next unit, no matter who the manufacturer is, will have it.

I recently replaced both legs and the gear box because I was not careful re those distances, and chewed up the gears and one leg was off center as well. The orginal gearbox was in a plastic housing, flimsy, and the replacement is metal.
