Best trip -- YET
9,300 miles, 20 states, 22 NFS, 6 BLM, 8 COE, 6 City or County Parks, 1 Nat Rec Area, and 1 State park. Our first trip without having to stay in a "Piano Key Park", our nickname for commercial parks, because they all look like lines of piano keys.
Boy do I love solar. Almost 2 months without a power hookup, with only 2hrs. on the generator, most nights, the only people in the area.
And digital cameras, DW took over 5,000 (yes, thousand) pictures!
Now I just have to figure out why we came back, it's HOT here in lower Alabama.

That sounds like a great time! We just spent a month out in Durango and Gunnison, CO (both NFS sites) and felt the same way about coming back to the stick house.
I'm considering installing solar. What kind of setup do you have.?

Rattler,
I designed and installed my solar setup, and am completely happy with it
3- 85 watt Sun panels from Sunelectronics
2 6v GC batteries from Interstate
Rogue 3024i charge controller
All led lights inside.
If I was to put in a large enough inverter to run the Microwave I think i would put in one more panel and 2 more batteries. Since we have a generator already and only use the micro about twice a week, can't see the the expense.
Let me know if you'd like I'll PM you a bunch of educational links and suppliers.
Tom

We've been considering solar - the results you're getting are very encouraging! Could you send us the links/suppliers, too? Anything we can do to minimize "Piano Key Park" nights will be well worth the effort. :-)

2 for Him,
What inverter do you have and is it a charger/inverter? Im thinking of replacing the converter with a charger/inverter in a fashion so all of the 110v sockets in the 5er are hot. Somthing like this.
http://www.xantrex.com/power-product...series-gs.aspx
I would also need the batteries, solar panels, and charge controller to go along with it... basically a total electrical system refit.....

Try this link. AMSOLAR
We have a considerably larger system built by these people. We have used it now continuously for 5 years without any problems. Also, a good reference for RV Solar education.
