Dodge U Joints

We have just been to the Dodge dealership in Yuma and have to have 3 U joints replaced. A friend says he thinks there is a recall on 04 trucks for the U joints. Has anyone heard anything. We are still on warranty, but if there is a recall, I won't have to pay the $100. deductible.

smc, just ask the Dodge dealership and they HAVE to tell you if there is a recall or bulleton on the u-joints. If there is one and they don't tell you about it and you find out about it later, Chrysler can give them a slap on the hand for their service. Most dealerships will be upfront with you since it doesn't cost them anyhow!

I hate that there's no grease fittings any more, you cant pump any grease in them. they say just replace as needed. Well I don't want to replace, I want to mantain as needed.

SMC and everyone else that wants to followup on recalls:

Here is a website to go to for just that....

http://www.recalls.gov/

I use this one a lot for about everything even before buying things..

Just got my truck back from the a Dodge dealership in Fl yesterday. 2004 3500 6spd. 33,000 miles. The rear transmission seal blew. They repaced the seal and yoke. I asked about recalls. Supposedly checked the recalls on the computer. Negative response. The people I know that own Dodge 2500/3500 trucks have not had any problems with seals or u joints.

If it helps at all. I run a 99 Dodge 2500 with the diesel. I just replaced the rotors which involved new bearings and ball joints. Just one ball joint was getting bad but replacing the rotors on a 99 gets into quite a tear-down. I opted to replace the U-joints at this time. They were checked out and still good with 130,000. The new U-joints can also be greased. I would think judging from the service I have recieved from mine you would be able to convince someone that this part failed well before it's time.
