Has anyone noticed that when you download the sales stats for the Montana..then the Moutaineer..they are the same stats. It would appear that Montana and Mountaineer sales are reported as one. HUmmmmm.

Possibly because the Mountaineer is part of the Montana line.

But the Mountaineer is listed on the website as a "Division of Montana". To show the sales of Mountaineer as being equal to Montana sales is equivalent to saying the sales of Neons are equal to the sales of the entire Dodge line. Sales for "all divisions of Montana", sales for "the Montana Division of Montana", and sales for "the Mountaineer Division of Montana" should all be different numbers. Corporatespeak ... even when spoken by "Old World Craftsmen" ... is still Corporatespeak!

Mountaineer used to be a seperate division but now is a subdivision of Montana, like Big Sky was.

What I was trying to indicate is that Montana is the number one seller of fifth wheels..But wait, that sales figure includes Montana fifth wheels, Mountaineer Fifth wheel and Mountaineer Travel trailers. I just never noticed that before.I would say that is Padding the numbers..Perhaps if the Number of Mountaineer Fifth wheels and TT were subtracted from that number Montana would not be number one????Just a observation...As Bill said.. why not throw all the divisions of keystone in under Montana..Then the number 1 spot is assured.

Did anyone catch the article in Trailer Life mag page 2o? TL claims that 8% of households in the U.S. owned an rv last year. That is up from 7.6% in 2001, and 58% higher than when the survey was first done. Hopefully this is a sign that the rv industry is starting to take a hard look and quality and reliability...

I saw that article and that sales continue to climb. That will eventually slow when the baby boomers age out of the market, if not before.
Were the sales numbers combined in the past, also, or is this something new? The new Mountaineers say Montana, Mountaineer Edition, a name that implies a closer relationship between Montana and Mountaineer. Did the combination of sales numbers start with that name change or have they always been combined? The combined name sounds to me like a master marketing move. There probably are many people who would like to own a Montana but maybe aren't quite ready to make that big a financial commitment. And in the past they may have perceived Mountaineer as not really a Montana. The name change might change that perception. We all know the Mountaineer is an excellent rig and have considered them as Montanas. Or at least I have.

What we have noticed in the last 5-7 years or so is the number of younger families camping. The C.G's our local group go to are now filled with young families and kids on weekends. I think camping is one of the last things left that families can do together and is still affordable. We also noted on our Summer vacation trip the number of young families in mostly TT starter units. It is way less expensive than Hotels, Motels and Resturants and a great way to spend family time together.

Not sure if the increase in RVing is from baby boomers or if there is more to it. I think RVing, with the newer rigs coming out, with newer technology. It is starting to appeal to the younger generation in increasing numbers. I remember what RVing when I was young... a small trailer towed behing a car, and it more often than not included a tent (parents did not sleep in the tent).
Now... central A/C, central vac, ceiling fan, desk, surround sound audio/video, bunk house 5vers/TTs, 400 sq ft of living space, built in flush toilets, showers, king beds, microwave, heated basements, etc, etc, etc... Now if that would been available to my parents, I would have been RVing WAY before 53 yrs of age...
I think this type of lifestyle for weekends and summer vacations is a LOT more attractive than it used to be to the 30 something age group.

Those sales stat figures where just something I noticed when I was looking around. They mean nothing to me but probably mean a great deal to keystone Montana. It gives them a huge marketing advantage to say they are number one.I was just a little let down when I realized they were not being exactly honest but then since when is marketing completely honest.I mean all you have to do is call that 1-800 number and start your own home business and you will have a big house, swimming pool, Sports car and make 20K per month,,or remember ..the Foster Grant commericial..get a pair of Foster grants and you wil be in a convertible with a beautiful lady falling all over you..Everyone what you to buy their product because if you do something good will happen to you>>> so they stretch the truth just a bit.....

Dave, I think you're probably correct and it's a bit of both.
Rich, where did you find the sales numbers. I managed to lose my link to numbers.
Thanks.
