hiway 247 from Yucca Valley to Barstow Ca

We are going to head from the Salton Sea area To Pahrump Nevada and was wondering if anyone has gone up Hiway 247 to Barstow? I'd rather go that way instead of going I-10 to the 215 to I-15 into Barstow and avoid all the madness. Thanks for your input. Dave

Dave: While I haven't taken Hwy-247 into Barstow, I do take it all the time into Lucerne Valley from Yucca Valley. We then take Hwy-18 to Apple Valley, Adelanto and up Hwy-395 on our way to Bakersfield. Hwy-247 from Yucca Valley to Lucerne Valley is a great two lane road. I suspect Lucerne Valley to Barstow is similiar. I assume you will take I-10 to Desert Hot Springs and then take Hwy-62 to Yucca Valley and Hwy-247?

Hopefully one of SoCal residents, with real world experience, will be along to describe Hwy-247 from Lucerne Valley to Barstow.

Dave,

We took our Montana from Twentynine Palms to Pahrump this time last year via Highway 247 and then highway 127 into Pahrump. The road was very good and as Butch said little or no traffic.

Thanks everyone for the info...Looks like we will head out HWY62 then to 127. Hi Butch and Susan, we knew there would be good advice out there. Teresa
