HD TV Receiver

I purchased the Direct TV HD Receiver from CW in Burlington. Got to use it at Clear Lake WA and it works great. Currently in a park with many trees and all it does is search for either satellite. I guess that means my signal is blocked from my roof mounted unit.

This unit, the receiver, gets very hot sitting in the cabinet, even when off. Has anyone else experienced this? If this is normal, looks like an exhaust fan might be in order for the cabinet above the tv.

Any thoughts??????

Phil

Phil, we've had the same problem with our receiver getting hot. We are going to unplug it from now on.
Happy trails....................

Phil - the receivers do get hot! They have a built in fan system that kicks on, but it's pretty noisy. We just make sure we leave the cabinet door open a little during and after use. It actually gets much hotter in our stick house cabinet than in the Monty cabinet.

Thanks guys for that info. I think I will try installing a 4" exhaust fan on the side of that cabinet, couldn't be too hard to do that.
