W/D Intallation

Thought I'd better start a new thread on this subject.

How difficult are the vented Spendide's (not stackable) to install? Although my dealer gave us a great deal on the rig, her prices on parts are very high...wants $1465 plus tax for the 2100 model even though our rig has the W/D prep from the factory. W/D and shipping $1186, install kit $15, installation $264, plus tax.

The 1186 W/D and shipping is not all that bad http://www.bigdiscountrv.com/washer_splendide.htm They should include the install kit and our installation was 2 hours at 70.00 per hour.. The installation is very easy if you have the prep and the hole in the wall is no problem if you have the proper tools. Being a very lazy person and tool challenged it was worth the 140.00 to have it done. I recall that I found a place that would deliver the unit to my door for 1079.00. Google around a perhaps you can find it???? Oh..Check out the link...Free shipping and no sales tax outside of ILL so looks like you could get it shipped to your door for 1013.00

Ours had the washer/dryer prep and it cost us little over $1000 including installation, having them install it with the vent and etc. This includes price of washer/dryer too. We have stack units.

Send a message via MSN to Parrothead
We bought ours at CW on sale for like $875, installed it ourselves. Ed just needed a little help getting it up the steps. We had a large, strong neighbor at the time. Took about 5 minutes for them to get it in place.
Happy trails......................

We also bought ours at campers world (years ago and two trailers ago) Our dealer delivered our RV to campers World (next door) to have them move and install our washer/dryer and install the vent (chrome). Their service rates were cheaper than the RV dealers was. No cost out of our pocket.

I would say the install and kit are fair, doesn't sound like the mark up is bad.
Many people don't understand that an installer takes a great risk, anything can go wrong when repairing or installing something, if all, or even one major thing goes wrong, the installer has to do what he has to do at his expense to make it right. This has to be factored in when giving a bid.
If you want it and can afford it, your dealer is the best place to get it done.

cat320, the $264 to install is taking you to the bank. If I were you I would go straight to Camping World and get it all done there! The unit from CW is a lot less and if you have trouble with it down the road there are a lot of CWs all over the USA to take it to and not just back to your dealer. I installed my own with a little help so I guess I would just have to fix it myself! When you get the wd, don't be intimidated by the winterizing, follow thw directions and it's easy. Good luck on your choice of installers. Her price on the wd looks like about $350/400 too high.

Check out camper World..2100 vented 949.00, Shipping 105.00, Install fee 188.00, Chrome vent kit 44.99 Total 1286.99.That is not a bad price for a professional installation. Yiou can have it cheaper if you have it delivered to your door and install it yourself. There are prices being quoted here that may be months or years old...That C.W price is today. Mine was a bit less because the labor charge was less..The labor charge for our dealership is 70.00 per hour. I paid 1038.00 With the vent kit..C.W price would be 993.99 with the vent kit..Your dealers price was 1465.00 for the W/D alone...What is wrong with that picture.....

Steve and I installed ours ourself. It is incredibly heavy and we had to lift ours to set it up in the closet. Nearly killed myself doing it; very akward position. Ours is in the back bedroom though; (front living). Unless you have some strong help, I would suggest professional installation.

I installed ours myself. Cutting that big 4" hole in the side of our brand new rig was one of the hardest things I have ever done.
