Applying Aerospace 303 to older Monty

Picked up a gallon over the winter and finally had the time and a decent day to try cleaning & treating the front cap. Took two hours to get all the southwest bugs off from last years long vacation! Used blue Dawn, a soft scrub brush and a hand cloth. Although our decals are cracked, they're not peeling nor faded, but the top of the front cap is quite oxidized. After letting everything dry, I started trying to apply the 303 on the bottom where it wasn't oxidized. Worked well, but as I found out, I'll need some micro fiber cloths to get it right. When I tried to do one edge of the top, it seemed as though it just kept sinking into the oxidation. Looked whiter, but no shine at all - just the same chalky kind of appearance. Am I missing something here, or do I just keep putting more on?

Also, I noted several said to not apply it to the decals - the bottle says it's good for vinyl, real and synthetic rubber and a slew of other things, so it probably would help keep them from shrinking & cracking.

303 is not a polish, but a protectant from the sun. On our previous rig, I used the 303 on the decals so I do not see a problem there. With regards to oxidation, I would do some research into boat polishing and shining and how to eliminate oxidation. It is an arduous procedure, and requires either an orbital polisher or strong forearms. 303 is good for all materials including your slide seals, vent gaskets, etc.

Bingo, will the 303 on the vent seals keep them from sticking ?? Ours tend to stick closed. I'm too big to be climbing up and down to help them come open.

Not sure about 303 remedying the sticking situation, seems like I recall somewhere on the forum previously that some sort of powder is beneficial. I want to say baby powder, but cannot recall exactly. I would also say that the silicon lube that is used on vehicle sunroofs may help as well.

On our previous SOB the Fantastic fan vent stuck so bad that I sometimes had to get on roof to help it go up. I contacted Fantastic to see if there was a different seal that didn't stick. They sent me small packets of Alcohol and 303. Clean first then apply 303. It isn't a permanent fix but will fix for awhile.

I've been using plain mineral oil on our seals, slide sides & etc. Not a UV blocker, but it keeps everything flexible and sliding, and is a whole lot cheaper than 303. You can pick up animal grade by the gallon at anywhere that has horse stuff.

303 will work for the entire RV, but they say you must do it every three months. I'd prefer a heavier duty wax/polish and not have to do it so often. I do use 303 on the tires, no petroleum in it.

Once oxidation occurs polish or 303 will not restore. Compounding/wax is the alternative.
