Branson Lakeside RV Park

Hi,
Anyone have information on Branson Lakeside RV Park? (I've already read the reviews on rvparkreviews.) I'm mostly curious about a reported train that goes through the CG frequently - even at night - and whistles (loudly).

Thanks!

Campgrounds and trains seem to attract to each other don't they? But I will say if you have tracks that are still in use, the whistle will be loud and trains don't care what time of the day it is. Look at google earth and see where the tracks are located. My bet is that it may be a local frieght train working business's along the way. Night or day don't matter, required to blow whistle at every crossing with 2 long tones, one short and another long. So if there is hwy. crossings they are required to do this.

Have to add that if it is a main line this could explain the frequent whistle. If thats the case I would be wary!

Hope this helps you out.

Dave

We have been here since yesterday afternoon--have not heard a train. there is an excursion train that goes into the countryside, but I don't think it is running now. There definitely are no tracks thru the campground, at least that we have seen. Very friendly people here. and nice view of Lake Tannycomo--This campground was under water a couple of years ago. we will check it out today

Just checked it out, there is a track along the side of the campground, there are some trees between the campground and the park and the tracks are a little higher than the campground. The ladies in the office tell me there are 2 or 3 coal trains that go thru at night and they are not supposed to blow their whistle, there is an electronic sign that tells them not to blow it but a few weeks ago the sign was broken and the train blew his whistle.(they say the engineer seems to love to blow it) During the day there are the scenic excursion trains and the number depends on the time of year. (They are MUCH louder and more frequent in Goshen)

This is a nice campground, the sites are pretty close together but that is the case in some parks

By the way a MOC member Wild Horse was camphost here about 2 winters ago

Now that's what I call good 'ole MOC service! Thanks! We will contact Wild Horse as well. If you learn anything further, we'd love your input - we were offered a workamping gig for fall 2014 and are considering it, so we're gathering information right now.

Enjoy Branson!!
