Self leveling jacks

Just purchase a new 2019 Montana 3731FL 5th wheeler and our maiden voyage we are having problems with the electronic leveling system. In fact we are at a KOA and jacks are fully extended, all 4 tires 5 inches off the ground and the motor that powers the hydraulic pump has burnt up. Brand new system, anyone else had this kind of problem? Has this auto leveling system been dependable?

The wonders of modern technology 😖

There occassonally have been some problems, but not that one. The problems there have been are mostly not systemic, but one offs.

These systems are like a good wife, sometimes finicky, sometimes crazy, you just need to learn how to work through the issues. Over time you will be glad you have them (both).

We have found them to be very dependable and absolutely love having them. A minor learning curve is required for operation. Never heard of a motor burning up.

I raised it first to get pickup out of way and then hit auto. One other note, I did hear what sounded like trying to make an adjustment prior to unhooking.

Have you tried to put it in manual mode to lower the legs? If the motor is indeed shot than your owners packet should have directions on how to use a drill to power the pump. Good luck, and contact Lippert.

This is a interesting problem. "I did hear what sounded like trying to make an adjustment prior to unhooking." Are you saying that it sounded like it was adjusting with no power to the system???

Update

Thanks for the great info. We did get someone out to manually get the hydraulic jacks and slide out in. Really a simple process now that I understand how to do it. Need to have s drill that you can Turn the motor that runs the pump. Very doable. Dropping it off at camping world to have a little heart to heart discussion. We will just add it to the list of things needed to be fixed. Hate to be the Quality Control Ginny Pig for Keystone. But as sone one said in an earlier post. That is why we have a Montana Forum

Thanks again

You say your pump motor burned up. How did you check it? Is it possible that the breaker that is between the batteries on the pump motor failed instead?

Here’s what I learned today. The electric motor that runs the hydraulic pump has two wires connected to it. One provides the juice to run it clockwise which brings things up or out. The other runs counter clockwise which brings things down or in. Down for jacks and in for slide outs. The counterclockwise hook up’s nut was loose and not providing a firm connection to motor. As we traveled it became more loose thus poorer connection which caused it to fail and actually continue to draw enough juice to form a weld and burn the motor and melt the wire. Key takeaway as I understand, make sure those nuts are tight. I’m no electrician, but it makes sense to me.

They got a new motor coming in and we hopefully will be good to go

That explains the motor. How did they explain it running until all legs were fully extended?
That seems like a controller issue.
