DVR Directv Hookup

Our old unit did not have satellite hookup. I ran the two coax cables for the DVR from the dish thru the back window to the TV receiver. Our new unit has sat and cable hookup, but just one sat connection each front and back of the rig. I am told the antenna booster even when off blocks sat signal. So,for folks with the living room floorplan like the 3910, how do you run two sat cables from the dish into the unit without that second cable going thru a window or slideout?

On our 2010 3400RL there are 2 separate satellite connections in the convenience center. One for the bedroom and the other for the living room. There are also separate satellite jacks in the wall at each TV. In the forward closet in the bedroom where the antenna booster is located there is a jumper cable that needs to be switched around. Here is a link to the wiring for Satellite/Antenna in the Montana. Hope this helps. Tim

I don't have a 3910 but I do have a newer Montana which is "Satellite Ready" and DirecTV. The Satellite wiring *IS* separate from the Cable/OTA circuit so you don't have to worry about the antenna booster when using the satellite connection.

You obviously have an older technology DirecTV antenna which requires two cables to the receiver. The Montana only comes with one satellite connection per room. There are two alternatives. Run your second cable through a slide or window (the easiest alternative as opposed to dragging another cable to each TV) or convert you DirecTV's SWM (single wire module) technology. SWM uses only *ONE* cable to supply signals to multiple receivers (a DVR is two receivers).

Your current DVR is likely SWM compatible already. All you need are a new SWM LNB and a Power Inserter. If DirecTV won't upgrade you for free, you can purchase these pieces parts from Amazon or Solid Signal. The SWM setup is easy to aim if you are using a tripod. The one cable to the receiver works wonderfully with the wiring in your Montana. The addition of a 2X4 DirecTV SWM Switch in the convenience center enables you to tie into both the living room satellite and bedroom satellite connections so you can have DirecTV in both locations.

I upgraded to SWM when I bought this RV, connected it so I have DirecTV in the living room and bedroom, and haven't looked back since.

Did not know about the new technology for single coax. Will check with directv. Thanks.
