12 Volt Air compressor on Ford truck

I have posted pictures some time ago of my Viair, it gave up the Ghost, so I installed a $49.00 Harbor Freight one in it's place on the truck, up on the skid plate.
I added a back up system that I used while the Viair was Kaput, out in Flagstaff. It is a 5# Co2 bottle with regulator, set at 90#. This is a 'Smokin' system, fast and plenty of capacity. I use air for the Hadley air horns, the bicycle tires, the truck air bags and the air bags in my hitch.
Besides....On board air is cool.....
Here's some pictures.
I was in a hurry, I will secure the air tank with better straps later, we are scurrying around trying to get things ready at the stick house for a 4 month adventure to Havasu City, then South Padre Island.

Ozz, that is so cool. I was admiring your old one before.

You need to put a little spring loaded relief valve by your brake pedal you can push occassionally at a stop sign to make them Chevy guys next to you think you have pneumatic brakes on the Ford beast!

Ozz,
I took your advice and bought a Viair product. I am very pleased with this portable unit. It pumped up the tires from 65 to 80 in about 10 seconds....nice unit. This unit is 12 volt, so connecting it to the existing battery is a snap.

Here is a tinyurl of the product from AutoAnything.com

Ozz,
I've had the same compressor from Harbor Freight and it works fine. Do you have yours hooked to an air tank for more volume? I lower the pressure on the truck tires and Air Lift when we stay put to soften the ride, but when I air up, the compressor sure gets hot. I wait 10-15 min between tires as suggested in the manual.
I like the on truck mounting, makes room in the RV for more "stuff"

I have the small air horn tank from Hadley, eventually, I will mount my 10 gallon tank under the truck.
It's a good idea to have one.
