Richmond Va CG

We start fulltiming in October. Late in October we will be driving down I95 thru Richmond. We would like to spend about 3 days in that area. We just need a clean, safe campground. Nothing costly. Suggestions?

Thanks. Phyllis

A good way to start you new fulltiming lifestyle is by saving some bucks. The best way I have found is with Passport America.
A park that we will be using is Small Country Campground. It's just 45 miles from Richmond and has many attractions close by.

If you don't already belong to Passport America send me a PM or email and I will give you my membership number. NO you won't get any additional discount but I will get a $10 credit off next years dues.

You could consider Americamps in Ashland, just off 95 coming into Richmond. It is OK but not great. The only other place is Pocahontas State Park in the South West corner of Chesterfield County, which lies SW of Richmond, also somewhat marginal, I think the stimulus package hasn't found its way there yet. Sorry there are not more great campgrounds in the Richmond area. Otherwise you could go on down to Williamsburg, 30 miles East, where there is a KOA. Richmond itself has many historical sites, including battlegrounds, and some great historical museums, but Williamsburg is more the vacation spot with Colonial Williamsburg as the highlight. Let us know if you need more specific information. John and Dorothy Weber

Thanks for the suggestions. We do have PA. I don't know how I missed the Small Country Campground. Will have to check into it. Again, thanks.

John and Dorothy - you are right. I was surprised at how few CG's in that area.

Phyllis, Not sure if this is the case but Did you look in the Passport book or online? Quite often new parks are added or deleted after the book is printed. I will use the book while traveling down the Interstate but not if I have access to the Internet.
