Hit in storage-need advice
A few weeks ago I posted about getting hit by a Class C while we were in storage at a lot in North Carolina. The only person we could find nearby to take a look at it and evaluate it for insurance was a mobile repair person. He said he can't tell if the pin box or hitch has been damaged and told the insurance company this event was too much for him to handle. When I asked if there was anyone nearby that he could recommend he said there is no one in the area. We are in Michigan our unit is in North Carolina and we have no idea who is reputable in that area, between Greensboro and Durham. We don't know if it is safe for us to tow, so someone who knows what they are doing would probably have to pick it up. Does anyone in the area have any advice for us and how we should proceed? We are new to RVing and have only used this unit for 4 weeks before storing it, so we really don't know very much at all.

NC residents. Your insurance company should be handing this for you. We have Progressive, rep was out within 24 hours when we discovered damage at our storage site.

Our insurance company is handling it with advice from the mobile mechanic. Basically his advice consists of photos. The adjuster is in Iowa and apparently does not have any local reps in that area that are qualified to deal with RVs. Our insurance is USAA.

Same with us. Been with USAA over 40 years, but sent us to Progressive for boat and full time RV insurance.

We kind of thought it was strange that they kept us at USAA. They claim that the RV is insured as a part of our truck insurance. That didn't make much sense to us and we questioned it but they said that's how it had to go. We double-checked again with them before we put it in storage, because it wasn't going to be attached to the truck, and they insisted that it was fine. This whole thing is confusing.

usaa isn't the insurance carrier...they just are a flow between usaa and an insurance carrier...
whoever it is they need to contract with a nc person...they can't do it from iowa.
