yes the tractor supply tank is a keeper. just wish they had built in more bungs for attachments.
i had to add one. as i wanted a sight glass to know how much is in the tank.
i am doing gravety fill. with a manual valve. and a filter. all flowing down into the fill tube.

I have a 110 gallon L shaped, but it's too much of a good thing. I don't need that much, nor want the weight.

Let us know how that works out. I've been looking at possibly the same tank at our local TSC. Yhat tank would about double my towing range with the OEM 38 gallon and this 37 gallon tank.

FyI, if you install gravity feed aux tank in you bed the ECM could set a trouble code/check engine light on some newer trucks. If the gravity feed aux tank keeps your main tank full all the time the ECM doesn't see the fuel level in your main tank decreasing over a certain amount of time and might think something is wrong with your level sensor and set a code..

This is true, but hasn't happened on any of the Fords in our group. The Chevy has not had trouble either, but we are all running 12V switches on them to open them as needed. That may be why they haven't set any codes for our trucks.

I ran a gravity fed auxiliary tank on my Duramax for 7 years and now on the 6.7 Powerstroke for over a year and NEVER threw a code. The Duramax fuel gauge would fall to empty on occasion but would reset automatically the next time the key was turned off then on. NO codes in many, many thousands of miles of use.

I got a code on my 2004 Duramax. I had the valve turned off when I filled the TransferFlow tank. When I started a 3000 mile trip, of course I opened the valve. After I drove about 75 miles I got a check engine light. Worried me, but the truck still ran good. When I returned home I took the truck to my local Truck shop. Found out the code was because you can’t fill up while driving at 60mph. Lesson learned.

This is to funny. What else are they watching us do? Told the wife about this and her eyes rolled . LOL

Gravity fed from the start on an 2018, no codes but I do let the tank get below 1/4 on a 48 gallon stock tank before I start the transfer. Then added a small fuel pump and switch it on -off with the upfitter switch. Takes about 15 mins. to empty the 32 gallon trans tank.

I have run my 2012 Ford and 2018 without problem. The gauge goes down about 1/8 and then shows full again. About 50 miles of the stock tank. Gravity feed open all the time

well mine is a 2006 so should not have the nanny state night-watch control on it.
not sure about factory tank but believe it is about 28 gallon, aux listed as 36 gallon.

simple manual valve gravity feed. (yes there is a filter in line).

need to fill up the aux, then run the main tank dry. drain just enough to get to a station and check. till then just need to watch the fuel gauge carefully.
my plan is to run aux empty, or close to that most of the time, then when i get to a place with a low price fill up everything.

For me I opted for the TransferFlow 50 gal aux tank system because it's all automatic and the system is DOT compliant. I don't have to monitor it or do anything I just fill it and forget it. It monitors and displays the levels in my main and aux tanks on a separate display on my dash and it transfers automatically as needed.

maybe i can change latter. but seeing as i am cheap.
but i bought a tank at a ranch supply place, had to add in a bung so i could do a sight glass, (plastic hose really). then hard parts to below the bed, rubber hose to a filter then to a connection i welded to the fuel inlet tubing. (yes while off the truck).
simple, leak tight.

been sick this past week. but in a couple three weeks will get to the full test.

I added a gravity flow aux tank in the bed of my 2016 F350. Currently full and in 3 days I fill the truck tank and release the aux tank valve as we move to another CG. The aux tank drains into the truck tank. When the fuel gauge says 3/4 I have a lot of time to find a truck stop to fill both. No codes no problems. I had a GMC with dual tanks and 1st the pump on 1 went out then the switch went out. Ever since I have preferred gravity.

Not all Tractor Supply tanks are DOT approved.

Although some are dual rated Diesel trans tank don`t have to be. That`s why their cheap and they say diesel only cause..........

Number of gallons stored
Explosive vs flammable
how it`s afixed to truck
Place card afixed meeting all DOT requirements
How it`s supplying truck fuel system or just for transfer
Ground connection for filling
thickness of tank material
Roll over valve on tank
fuel has to be drawn from the top NOT the bottom cause if you have a leak your exhaust is a source of ignition, w/diesel it`s "oh crap what a mess to clean up"
with the gas ones I don`t think your allowed to have a drain plug on the bottom in some states, could be wrong about that.

with diesel they don`t care if it`s an open five gallon bucket and you just throw it at the fuel tank to transfer it.

Farmers are exempt as long as it`s for your equipment use, OK OK those guys get away with everything I`m planting corn in my back yard tomorrow and putting on a straw hat, think of the tax savings.

This is what they worried about if you crash and role over and your 110 gallon tank breaks loose from the truck. I think you could imagine the fire ball. Diesel not so much or not at all.

I just needed 10 more gallons

I have an F350 that came with a 48-gallon tank, I thought this would be more than enough. I never factored in some very strong headwinds. When my wife and I took a trip from Denver to San Diego last fall, our plans were to go from Denver to Albuquerque (first leg 450 miles), Albuquerque to Phoenix (Second day 460 miles) and Phoenix to San Diego (Third day, 360 miles). Without headwinds and traveling at 65MPH we could get almost 11MPG, but we hit headwinds in some places and our mileage suffered. So on the first day, we had to stop at a truck stop in Las Vegas (NM) and get fuel. On our second day somewhere on I-17 we had to get fuel. I agree with a lot of people if your rig is 40 some feet long you almost have to go to a truck stop and pay the higher price for fuel (and have to wait a long while sometimes). For us, if we just had 10 more gallons of fuel we would have made it without problems. We don't need an expensive auxiliary fuel system. So, this is my inexpensive solution. I have two of these, once everything is in place, you just hold down the green button and transfer 5 gallons of fuel in about 2 minutes

That little yellow jug has saved me a couple of times going from Manhattan KS to Oklahoma City. That said, it is still a PITA to load and fuel - guess I'm showing my age but I'd like a less weighty solution. All that said, $$$$ have kept me using the yellow jugs a while longer.

Leave the fuel cans in the back of your truck

If you have two D batteries, you could use this to pump your fuel into your tank....NO lifting required. It pumps at 2.4 gallons per minute and available on Amazon. It's made by Terapump, Model: TREP01. It's about $38 on Amazon

Ordered an ATI 46 gallon auxiliary tank today. Will add a manual shutoff valve, fuel filter/water seperator, solenoid valve and fuel pump, plus a bypass maunal valve around the solenoid valve and fuel pump in case either fail.
