Cost of 2005 Montana 3400RL

I really like this trailer and a dealer quoted me $42,300 on a 2005 model. I have the feeling that it a pretty good price but I would like some input from others. If you know a dealer which would quote a lower price, please let me know.

I am planning to tow it with a 2002 F250 with 7.3 PSD. Any comments on this?

thilliard I am not sure if this unit has all of the options, but will say if it is a base unit that is about right. If it has all of the option it is a supper price. We paid more than that but all the options only because they were already on the unit as the dealer ordered. We only went to look that day, NOT trade. Of course, as you can guess we came home with a trade in hand. I am not sure of your dealer or his volume, but the dealer we use has a big volume of Monte business. Look on line at www.dandyrv.com.

If these folks are near enough to you it may be worthwhile to call them. We've bought there 2 times, good folks and they seem to be willing to deal.

Welcome to the MOC Forum. This is a great site to get good information about Montanas. I can't answer about the price. I do have some thoughts about the looking part.

Look on the net for Dealers that advertize. Check out their offerings and compare your findings with your dealer's offer. If you have been reading this forum, you know to critically scrutinize the dealer. It seems your dealer's after-the-sale quality of service and business integrity can make or break your Monty experience, especially on warranty work.

If you can't get him to lower the price, negotiate his throwing in an appropriate hitch or an additional air conditioner(if only one is included) or other things to sweeten the pot. If you don't ask, you won't get.

As far as pulling with a 2002 F250, you will be in the company of many including me. The towing upgrade was included on this rig which added an extra rear leafspring leaf. I am adding a little beef to the 7.3L with a Hypertech Programmer III to increase power. I am also considering an exhaust brake. SP Diesel has an affordable one that I am investigating. I don't think I really have to do anything to the truck--just being overly causious.

Hope all goes well in your negotiations. Keep us posted.

We bought our Montana with a trade-in and they put all of the money on the old trailer and held the new trailer price. I believe we got ours for around that price when you consider what the old trailer was worth. Ours is pretty well loaded (I think there were three options we didn't get). Great trailer, we really like ours and the floorplan really fit our lifestyle. Hope you enjoy it.

The msrp is likely something over 50,000, probably closer to 55,000. So 42,000 sounds like a pretty decent deal to me. As others said, this assumes it's optioned to the msrp I mentioned.

Back in Jan of 2004 when I placed my order for my 3400RL I had it loaded out with a MSRP of $58,000 with everything on it but high-gloss exterior and slide awnings. I have bought two rigs from the same dealership and got a really good deal on mine, but did not get down near the 42,000 range. I would ask your dealer for the 2005 retail price sheet and take a look at the options you could get if you factory ordered. Have him price the rig with all your options you want, and then have him get you the options list that are on this coach. Sounds to me like it is not "totally loaded". As far as towing with the ford I have nothing to offer except I am towing mine with a 2500HD chevy duramax and have had no trouble towing this coach. Good luck on your purchase and keep us updated on how it works out.

Hi. I got almost all options for a 2005 and paid $41,000. My dealer indicated to me that I got a great deal (but of course, he would) but after talking to people and looking around, I'd have to say we did in fact get that. Good luck.

I guess I got a good deal on mine then. I paid $39,900. on a 2005 3400 with Gel coat and slide toppers, loaded. Should be coming off the line today. Getting anxious.

Gene - that was a supper price at $39K. I need to be trading with your dealer. If you order from the line and not off the lot, you did very well.

Thrillard not sure where you live but Terrell Camping Center in Sherrills Ford, NC carries large selection of Montanas. We paid 36,900 for our 2005 3685FL with all options includeing all upgrades less the 10 cubic foot freg. They have 2005 3400 listed for 37,500.00 with all options. So that should give you a base line. They move lots on Monty's. Think we got good deal it even included washer/dryer combo.

Native Tex....Yes, off the line. I thought it was a very good price. Ordered Nov 2 and it's at my dealers today. Walk through on the 14th. My dealer is Hilltop RV in Escanaba, MI.
