chl [Concealed Weapons]

I don't think this is the proper forum for a CHL discussion. For those of you who have this interest, what is the best forum to explore?
The OP is correct this is not the proper Forum for this discussion. There are many Forums out there that are more appropriate for this issue. The topic is being locked. Thank you, RVWheels, MOC Admin.

Re-read you post stiles and had to delete my comment. But I do have a C/C and will get Delaines when we return to Tennessee in Sept. But on the Big Board there is tons of comments on the C/C. Happy
Trials....

One reason for using the initials is that if you don't know, it doesn't apply. I don't like stirring pots, but it looks as if my attempts at subtlety is amiss. I found my answers online, so disregard.

Anyone who makes assumptions about why I asked the question is exercising inappropriate prejudice based on your own projection. If you don't understand "projection", look it up under psychological terminology.

I do have a chl, but have not participated in any the forums. There a LOT of them out there but I do not know anything about any of them. Many are specific to certain states. Many that are not specific to any state. A google search of concealed carry forum will give you lots of forums to research. If you want a specific state then google concealed carry forum 'state name'.
I would be interested in knowing if you find one that provided good info (like the MOC) without being populated with some radical types.

Thanks BB_TX, I am looking at the educational aspects of the licensing curriculum. I found it interesting and positive to find a conflict resolution component included. It is also interesting to see the list of those who would be excluded from license, like DUI, criminal record, arrears on child support payments, anyone with a restraining order and other issues that I certainly agree I would not want to have loose with a concealed weapon.

I tend to be a pragmatist. We are a nation of laws and the law in most states provide for concealed carry. As a citizen, I need to know about the laws concerning this issue. I need to know regardless of which side of the debate my ideology supports so that expressing my thoughts is based in fact, not emotionally based empty rhetoric and tired cliche.

Stiles, There is a handbook available that covers the laws in each state. I carry the handbook with me in my trailer when we travel. Nice to know the laws of each state we are in...

Stiles, you will find the licensing aspects varies greatly from state to state.
Texas seems to have one of the more strigent requirements. You are required to take a 10 hour classroom session and pass a multiple choice/true-false test of something like 100 questions. Conflict avoidance and/or resolution is strongly stressed. Then you have to pass a shooting qualification. Proof of these along with fingerprints and photos are submitted to the state and you are then submitted to a background check before license is approved.
But I have a friend in Florida. He only had to take something like a 2 1/2 hour classroom session and did not even have to show that he knew how to fire a gun!
And I think there are a very few states that do not even require that much.
I was raised in small town Texas by parents who were raised on a farm. Aunts and uncles and friends still farmed as I grew into my teens. Guns and hunting were a part of life for most everyone I knew. I fired my first "real" gun (a single shot 410) when I was 7-8 years old. I have always been comfortable around them, my kids are comfortable with them, and my grandkids are being raised the same way. Proper training/education is the key. I believe in gun ownership and own several, but am far from being a "gun nut". But some of the lax requirements for concealed carry worry even me.

In North Carolina, it's refered to as a Concealed Carry Permit (CCP). Vickie an I both have ours and support our second amendment right to have one. You need to check with your state as to their laws regarding concealed weapons.
