Added a quick connect fitting for barbecue

On my last 3 trailers I've had a quick connect fitting for the barbie. This saves having to carry another propane tank. Now I have one on the new trailer. Too bad that Montana doesn't put this on either as standard equip or as an inexpensive option.

Considering all the laws relating to propane construction, they may fear a liability issue and then again it could be like satellite dishes for the roof. A former head of the Montana division said they didn't do things like that as options because the dealers make too much money off them and so wouldn't order them that way.

Why did you have a Extra tank to carry around for the Barbie? I just have a 10ft Extension hose/fitting for my Weber that just goes into the street side tank going under the door and screwed on the tank my whole stay at the campground ,and use the curbside Propane tank for the Coach

We do a lot of desert camping in Arizona and want the extra tank ready to go if the active tank runs out in the middle of the night, as it often does.

There's a cosmic law that causes that.

Hey Jimmy, is it ok to have the curbside pigtail just hanging unconnected when you have your bbq attached? I thought that it was important to close off both tanks when one is disconnected?

BBQ Connection

We have a new 3120RL and I am looking for where I can connect my BBQ. Is there a location on the unit that I could be overlooking?

All you need is one of these fittings you can connect between one of your cylinders and the pigtail, and then connect a long hose to your grill. We just remove the pigtail from the cylinder and connect a hose from there to the grill. We also carry a one gallon refillable cylinder that we can use if we set up the grill farther away from the rig than the hose will reach. https://propanewarehouse.com/shop/ca...ping-tee-wqcc/

We just remove the pigtail on the street side tank, and then I have a 20' hose that I hook up to the grill.

However, I think that the question about the quick connect fitting is not the same as the fitting linked here. We were at the RV show yesterday, and there were units that actually had external ports that accepted air line type quick connects for outside propane. The fitting linked would still be a screw fitting.

I didn't actually see the hose that was supplied with the unit, but it would have been something that looked like this:

The problem with the quick connect fittings is, you have to use a grill that does not have a regulator because the gas is already regulated down to appliance pressure. We have a Weber Q grill, and at times want to use it away from the rig, so modifying it would be a hassle. Connecting it directly to a cylinder is the most practical way for us.

I have a baby q. Replaced the internal regulator with a 20 foot hose with the regulator on the tank end ($20 on Amazon).

I then installed a "Y" fitting on the curbside tank. One side of the "Y" attaches to the rig, and the other to the grill.

Used to just detach the tank and attach the grill. That worked until I was down to one tank and wanted to use both the oven and grill at the same time.

I have that exact same hose, with the built on regulator.

That's a good thought on the bottle behind empty, and not belong able to use the stove anymore. That would not make the DW happy. I better be finding a "Y" connector!!!

Like this right here:

Even has a check valve so the hose to the grill doesn't need to be attached all the time...

My 2020 high country has a fitting right under the steps, kind of a pain to connect but nice to have.

Rohrmann - My 2017 3661RL has a quick connect located CS rear of the trailer. I have been wanting to use it lieu of carrying a separate tank or getting into tapping off the main tanks.

Just want to be sure I understand what you are saying...The trailer gas lines plumbed off the main tanks are regulated to appliance pressure, so if I use the quick connect for the grill. The grill won't perform optimally?
