Seattle recommendations

We will be visiting our son in Seattle this summer and looking for recommendations on a good RV park for a few days. We don't need a fancy resort; won't be there much, but want something clean, quiet and big rig friendly. He lives about 3 miles north of Lynnwood; about 5 south of Everett.

There’s not much to choose from. You can try lakepleasent RV in bothel it’s nice but I would call now they book up all the time. Not sure of any other places around there.

If you are willing to take little drive there is a TT in Monroe, it's clean. Not a lot of options in that area. A bit further north of Everett (Stanwood and Mount Vernon) are more choices. But it's a bit of a drive from Lynnwood especially with work traffic, rain or an accident.

Anybody know anything about Maple Grove? It does not look too far from Lynnwood, but I don't know traffic in the area.

Or Lake Pleasant? It looks like a longer drive to Lynnwood.

I have not stayed at the park on highway 99 in Everett but the area leaves a lot to be desired. I am guessing those photos on their website are very old and staged. I would not consider that area of highway 99 to be a safe or clean area though the park may have descent security. The homeless and drug traffic in that area is out of control.

The park in Bothell is where we were planning to stay if we needed to during our house sale. It is a much better are than the first. Both of these are significantly closer to Lynnwood than either of the parks I mentioned earlier.

The area just does not have much in the way of nicer, clean RV parks.

I agree with PNW, i use to live in Shoreline and have been through that part of 99 it always seemed sketchy to me. I have stayed at Lake pleasant its not to bad of a drive to Lynwood, i would say maybe 15 20 min. The park is very nice and i would not worry about your 5er when your not there.

Scott, Maplegrove and the park next door are very acceptable for a 2 to 3 day stay. I have used Maplegroves storage section off and on for several years and never had a problem. And both parks are close to Lynnwood. Lake Pleasant park is much nicer, but farther (15 min) away. I will give you more info at the Q when you get there.

Lake Pleasant in Bothell is very nice, if you can get a spot, and not too bad of a drive to Lynnwood.

At all costs, avoid anything off Highway 99. I've driven through them all. You just don't want to go there. I think there are 3 or 4 total.

If you are willing to drive a bit further, there's Emerald Springs RV Park in Arlington. It's new and has full-timers but all in new rigs. Not much for facilities, but they have bathrooms and full hookups. https://emeraldspringsrv.com/

In a pinch you can also stay at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe. They have 50amp and water, but no sewage. It's cheap though, only $25/day and generally pretty empty (which isn't all bad.) We stay there occasionally to satisfy the 'gone once a month' requirement at our camping club nearby.

Hope that helps.

Thanks everyone. At this point Lake Pleasant is full, but I will keep trying. Have a reservation at Maple Grove; hope I don't have to use it; they want $75/night and doesn't sound like best area. Perhaps my son will have room at his place to park the beast.

On the south end you can check on a small park at the county fairgrounds in Enumclaw thru the city. Probably no vacancy. about 45 min drive. Also try South Prairie Creek RV also about 45 min south. It has worked well for us for the last several years. Not fancy but comfortable.

Try the Evergreen Fairground in Monroe. W&E only but a lot of spaces. You can get to Lynnwood/Everett area from Hwy 2 and Hwy 5. We lived in that area and there are not a lot to choose from. Try www.campgroundreviews.com

Tulalip Casino in Marysville

We live just across the border in Canada and often stay at the Tulalip Casino on the first night of our RV trips south. It's free (although they do want you to utilize their casino) with no hookups, and has their security drive around 24/7. It's on a paved lot with large marked lines for RVs. It's about 18 miles from where your son lives - maybe 30 minute drive.

Maple Grove

This is the Northwest's premier rv resort, in the 1930's. Stayed there a couple of nights. That first turn into the park is tight. We have a 41 foot unit and what they put you in is a 1930's back to back unit. You get to choose which power pole to hook-up to. We had a heck of time time getting it level even with block. Was scary to have the jacks extended that far.

Believe me it doesn't look like the pictures. I wouldn't worry about the area it is in, saw no problem.

Seattle has turned into such a pit that we doubt we will go back anytime soon.

Agree that it doesn't look at all like the picture. All 4 RV places in that area are about the same. Dumpy. And it is a scary area for sure.

To defend Seattle just a little, this park is between Lynnwood and Everett on Highway 99, which is about the worst place around. It's 15-20 miles from actual Seattle.

We stayed at the Swinomish Casino RV park in Anacortes for a few days in early September. It was reasonably priced & wasn't all that bad to get to Bothell/Lake Forest Park for dinner with friends.

Finding a decent park around Seattle is ridiculous -- but the odds are better if retired military. The FamCamp at Lewis-McChord near Tacoma was really nice & a great price.

Good luck!

The only problem is property is too expensive and taxes too high.

If you check Passport America certain times of the year there are two nice campgrounds in that area Tall Chief and Thunderbird.
