Counter Top Removal

I was at the dealer today to see about geting the counter replaced on our 3400, it is cracked. The Tec told me that Montana has had a lot of trouble with the tops and axels... but he said if I want he will try to get them to approve for me to do the work and not tow it in for work just exchange the tops. Has anyone tried this or seen it done? I looked and the only hard part looks like the part that go's under the cabinet, lifting high enough for the sink to clear other than that just unscrew and unhook the drain and water. Thought pretty simple. any advise.

Thanks
Bob

No advice on that but axel problem did that mention, what year of trailer and model? I have an 08 3000RK so our counters are a little different in configurations.

Waldo,
He was only talking in general, but said that the new axels seamed to take care of that problem but now the shakles (as all know).

I'd let them do it if just for future warranty on the counter top. That will take care of all the finger pointing if there is a problem later on. True its not a job any of us couldn't handle.

We had a crack in ours and like you thought briefly about doing it myself. Of course why would I do that just in case something went wrong with the install. Then there is always what happens if it cracks again in future and the famous phrase from a company "it's because it was installed incorrectly". My advice is don't do it!!!

I wouldn't do it either...having done a few in homes I'd say fitting corners with counters just never seems to go as easy as you'd think.
I would never say 'just' or 'easy' when it comes to something like that.
Be prepared for some trimming.

I agree with the

"let them do it"

crowd

warranty, warranty, warranty!

nope, would not do it, let them be responsible.

We had ours replaced at the factory and they did a very poor job. It wasn't finished until late--several days after they had completely the rest of the work on the 5W. We were in a hurry, it was dark and they were finished for the day. They didn't finish about three feet of the grout work, so had to pull it out and replace it myself. They installed one of the overhead cupboard support posts and cracked the base for the posts. They wouldn't send me the base, so it is still that way as a monument to poor workmanship.
