Interesting puzzle here. But I have no idea how it works.

I tried it and was mistified, so had to figure it out.

No matter what number you pick, the two numbers added together and then subtracted from the original will leave you with a number divided by 9. Check out the symbols for 9, 18, 27, 36, 45, etc. they change every time you try this but all the numbers divided by nine have the same symbol.
