Well, some of us live with a 'budget' for the amount of money we can spend monthly without getting into reserves or investments. More expense for fuel means less expense elsewhere. We have changed our lifestyle in some areas to accommodate our budget but there is a limit to doing that.

I also have to agree with Glenn. We put on about the same number of miles as he does. On our prior truck we put 51,000 miles in 15 months. That's 40,800/year. This truck will be 10 months old on the 25th of this month and will turn 30,000 miles tomorrow. The dollars add up in a hurry with that kind of mileage.

We filled up today in Belgrade, MT, on I-90, at a Flying J. The cash price was 2.739 for diesel. The closest town to where we are now is West Yellowstone, MT. Diesel there is 2.849 at every single station.

Steve.S.You have cut back quite a bit on milage since last year. That helps on the budget. We have the same problem. We were planning on about 30 to 35,000 miles a year and at the price fuel is now and what it might be in the future we can not handle the expense without getting into reserves or investments and investment returns are not that great any more either.I still predict the bubble will burst on this oil thing..hope so soon...

The good old USA is also one of the largest EXPORTERS of petro products such as diesel etc. Every drop of OUR Alaskian oil goes to Japan. Why? Seems to me we should meet American needs with American resources BEFORE we export. But just remember we have two oil men running our show.

I think they are after the RVers. The truckers can pass the expense on to the consumer. We cannot. And I wasn't aware that the President was the one that sets oil prices.
Happy trails....................

The president does NOT set oil prices..The price of our oil is set by the commodities market right here in the good old USA.It might be educational to google"commodities market" might also be educational to google "OPEC" learn about basket index's and what role OPEC plays in the price of our oil...We are being scr....d alright. Also when I google alaskian oil the data says that only 4% of North Shore oil went to Asia up to 2000 and since then none and the the west coast gets 90% of North Shore oil and there is or was a ban on north Shore oil exports.. Why does it say that????...
