has anyone added 110 volt outlet under the bed
I have a 2011 3150 and want to add a 120 volt outlet to the bed frame to plug in a alarm clock/charge phone. Has anyone done this modification and where did you get the power from and how did you do it. I know the newer model 3150 have this already installed.
Thanks Mark

Power in a slide is always more complicated then on a fixed wall. If i needed to add one on my unit I would put it right next to the slide on the fixed wall. On mine I could fish the wall pretty easily from the basement but if I couldn't some of the surface mounted conduit looks pretty good. When adding the outlet use one with the USB port built in. That way you get the use of both 120 plugs. JMO, Jim

Ditto running electric in a slide. You would have to use flexible, stranded wire and that means you should use the specialized connections to go from flexible to romex. 120vac alarms not really necessary as there are good battery powered ones available. Charging the phone- there are outlets now with built-in usb connectors for this purpose. Possible to change out an outlet in the room to give you this function without the bulky wall mount xformer on the standard phone chargers. But if you really want to add 120vac to the slide, you should be able to get the parts from an rv supply house. John

Someone should be along to answer your question soon. Several members have done it as it is necessary if you have a sleep number bed or heated blanket.

Our bed slide is hydraulic, and as you can see, the hydraulic lines come in from below, along with the 12 volt circuit, (from the lower right corner in the photo). The metal frame is anchored to the floor, so a junction box could be attached to the frame, Romex run in from underneath, and good extension cord from the junction box to an outlet on either side of the bed side wall. I suppose you could run a second cord to a box on the opposite side as well. You would want to make sure the cord is placed so the movement of the slide does not interfere with the cords.

Well, just be careful where you run your wiring! Mine shorted out under my bed as a result of Keystone's sloppy craftsmanship. It's going into the shop day after tomorrow: http://www.montanaowners.com/forums/...ad.php?t=65547

I agree with rohrmann. We put in a Sleep Number and needed 110v, so I dropped a wire down to the basement and tied it into the receptacle in the basement. I followed the hyd. lines to make sure that the wire would not get caught on anything. It's been about a year now and no problems.
