Funny how almost every thread on this forum veers off topic. As the original poster, I asked a specific question and indicated specific items I did not want to do. I thought this would help keeps discussions on topic. I was wrong. Only 5 of the 43 responses addressed my question and only 3 gave me food for thought. It seems that most folks did not read the original post and are responding to other folks responses. Makes it hard sometimes to get good advice to a specific question.

If I have questions, I will still ask and hopefully get direct answers.

I guess I am one of the off topic posters you are referring to but I thought I was asking questions about "Generator install". Like you, I have considered putting my Preditor 3500 in the front compartment of my 3402rl but could not bring myself to place a generator under my bed. I don't trust myself to do it safely. My questions were about an alternative for placement in the back of my f350. Sorry if I went off topic.

I am thinking of doing the same thing with my Predator 3500. I am going to measure the space available and see if I can put a sliding drawer in to allow the generator to be outside when it is running. I don't need it to run when traveling and will not be running it at night under the bed.

I just measured and I have the same problem, it's too tall. The landing leg cross bar is in the way. Let see now, if I put in hydraulic landing legs.........oh well that is an entirely different problem.

Thread hijacking and drift has been around as long as some petroglyphs in Utah.

The Predators are designed to be out in the open and not in an enclosed space.
So you would need to address heat dissipation with it being in an enclosed space.You will need to make sure you have adequate ventilation for combustible air
And you will need to ensure your exhaust system does not leak.

For the last one I would install a couple of CO detectors, one in the compartment and one in the bedroom.

We have a Montana 3820FK and instead of putting the gen in front, purchased a Genny-go tray for the rear bumper, Predator 3500, mounted right next to the RV plug. All outside, cover with tarp for traveling. Gives us more storage in front, just have to pull out cables to run at rest areas if wanted. Cargo straps hold in place with wire rope lock cable to reduce chance of someone walking off with it.

A word of caution: Make sure the rack can withstand the bouncing it will experience at the back. I had to have significant work done to insure the hitch did not fail AGAIN. Yes, the first time was on the 405 in CA at 60 mph in rush hour! Fortunately it dragged and I got stopped without killing someone with my new 120 lb. Honda generator and rack.

Although I do not have an engineering degree, my very limited knowledge of 'moments' and torque, along with experience of rapid motion at the front and back end of a 37' fiver has led me to believe that objects resting on the back of a frame that overhangs the axles by 6 - 10' can be subject to very large g forces, making them effectively changing weight by factors of 2 - 3 in milliseconds. This necessitates some very substantial engineering and fabrication to ensure these 2-3 g instantaneous loads can be handled by the frame.
For those of you contemplating loading that rear cargo tray with something other than bags of popcorn, follow a travel trailer or fiver that has a few bicycles hanging from a bumper-mounted rack. The motion is quite amazing, and brings "metal fatigue" and "stress cracks" to mind.

I am curious where the failure occurred. I would like to reinforce mine in the potential failure area.

I don’t think operating it in the bed of the truck would be an issue: I have run gas and diesel inverter welding/generator machines in my work truck for years: I have head about the static electricity; gotta look more into it:
