Yosemite
We were there 5 or 6 years ago and were chased out by smoke form the wild fires. Want to go back but can't seem to find any camping inside the park seems to be all booked up. Anyone have suggestions.

Although I have not visited this park, there is an Elks campground on the North side of Oakhurst that is pretty reasonable. The travel time from the Escapees park to the Yosemite valley is almost two hours travel and from the Elks campground is at least 1 1/2 hours, so be prepared to travel to and from the park close to half of the day.

I have stayed at the Mariposa KOA in the past. It was pretty nice. I think it is 43 miles (according to mapquest) to the valley - probably a little more than an hour.

We stayed at Bass Lake Recreational Resort just 14 miles from the south entrance to Yosemite National Park 3 years ago.

We stayed at the Elk's Club RV park in Oakhurst last year and made a day trip from there to Yosemite. Best advice given to us to do it that way. It's too tricky to pull an RV into Yosemite.
You need not be an Elk's club member to use their RV park & the charge would be tax deductible because it's treated as a donation.

If you are traveling up HWY 99 there is an ELKS park in Merced ($25) and it is a little over 1 1/2 hr to the park entrance. The KOA in Mariposa is nice enough and is a short drive into the Park
