Morning everyone, so we’re heading home from the 6 week long trip it’s been a blast. We ran the 2 inverters the first night when we dried camp and the front bathroom smelled like exhaust and the alarm went off. After then we didn’t dry camp again till last night. While in Florida I built an exhaust diversion kit for the inverters so the exhaust goes up instead to towards the front bathroom. No alarms and you can barely smell the exhaust.
Has anyone had an issue with something similar ..? Not sure what options I have left aside from gettin the exhaust custom built that bolts on instead of just sits in front and diverts, or unhook. With the diversion kit I built I would say 98% effective.
Really hoping someone has an idea on this, wish I could track down where the smell is coming from in the bathroom....

Are you running a portable generator inside the front compartment ?
I don’t think that’s advisable unless I’m missing something.
Oh no !! They are in the back of the truck. I may have it figured out, I extended the length of the tube so it higher then the point over the truck. I also lowered the tailgate just in case there was lingering exhaust. Been over an hour and so far so good.

Yikes!!!! Had this problem early on when starting to use in truck bed generators. Exhaust would collect in front closet and could not for the life of me figure out how it was getting in. Simple but effective solution was to go to Walmart (we were parking there over night anyway )and bought one of those cheap $16.00 box fans put it in the back of the truck pointing at the generator
no more exhaust collection in the trailer. Exhaust fumes are hot and will rise up into the camper through minute cracks I guess or in through the storage
doors Never did figure it out but I found if you keep the exhaust moving fast it will dilute with fresh air and not become an issue. And as a precaution I put 2 more carbon monoxide detectors in the camper. Yeh, I know paranoid now.
A fan works try it.

When you leave the "generator" off the description it is confusing. Recommend you park the truck away from your rig and you will not have exhaust issues.

I for one can’t understand the logic of running a portable generator under the over hang of your bed room while you are sleeping.
This is something you hear about on the 6PM news. Two people found dead in their RV in a Walmart parking lot.
It’s portable move it to the back of the rig and as far away from the rig as is possible.
Just my humble opinion.

[B][/BDon`t think you have grasped the concept. The portable generators are not under the over hang they are 4 ft. in front of the nose like mine in a 8 ft. bed which is miles in front your typical 5th wheel factory installed generator their exhaust is no more then 6 inches from the side or front of the camper. I`ve seen tail pipes only 3 inches over the edge of a unit in the front well under the nose. If you look at all late model motor homes they are all Inside the unit with the exhaust just inches beyond the edge of the unit. Not sure but doubt all those people will vacate the camper while the generators on. So the in bed method with a fan to blow the exhaust away is far better IMHO. Way cheaper and some what quieter. I guess if you are boondocking your method would work.
