Cleaning adhesive from ceiling

I have a couple of areas with what appears to be adhesive on the ceiling, next to the battens (joint strips).
Has anyone had the same situation and found a cleaner that doesn't damage the vinyl face on the ceiling panels? My go to cleaner is lacquer thinner but that can melt some plastics and I'm afraid to try that.

Ceiling panels are just painted luan, I think. I can tell you that I tried to clean some dirty spots off mine. Spots came from dirty water off the top of the slide, the rubber seal would fling water when the slide closed. Anyway, be very careful with the ceiling finish, it's very easy to make a problem worse. I would try and dab some paint on it.

What ever you try, try it in an inconspicuous area to see how the ceiling finish responds. Be careful. The finish is probably not expected to tolerate much in the way of chemical solvents. "Goof Off" is a product that is for that sort of thing (it's a little milder than lacquer thinner)but I would still be careful and try it in an inconspicuous place.
