I hope my post wasnt misunderstood. Im didnt tune my truck thinking I was going to save a lot of money. I did it because it makes the truck run better. All these new diesels have plenty of power. Although when unloaded being able to tune to 310 and run a sub 13 second 1/4 is fun. But the real reason is longevity of the truck. If you are leasing a truck or plan to trade in a 50k miles or so I wouldnt bother either. Also if you are worried about warranty dont mess with it. In my opinion these trucks are great from the factory. With a little help they can be amazing. My towing tune increases line pressure which in turn saves your tranny. It also creates an earlier tc lock up which helps the tranny and fuel milage.
Its always your choice. I was just expressing why I did it and the pros of it. Not for everyone.

I agree Sean don't tune your truck to save money. Tune it because it's its way more fun to drive and makes a better truck, and makes it more reliable. Once when I had first tuned my truck while I was on a 4 lane deserted road 2 guys challenged me to race. They were in a 1/2 ton 5.9 Dodge. No I didn't race them, but they probably could here me laughing.

You let a dodge escape. You have better control then I would. Only kidding. I dont race either I have too much life to live. On a track that would be a different story. Glad to see a fellow spartan user pulling a Montana. This is my first Montana and only got it about a week ago. Ive been tuned for about 20k miles and love it. I dailiy drive the 250 or new 300 tune and tow on the 210tp.

There are several Spartan users pulling Montana's usually with the 210 tune. I think we all agree, we will never go back to stock.

Randye, we have slowed down and found a significant improvement in towing mileage. I now plan to tow at a GPS 60 mph, which is 61 1/2 on our speedometer. I'd estimate the improvement in mileage to be in excess of a full mpg.

What's surprising is the difference between and average of 60 mph and an average of 65 mph for a hundred miles is a whopping 7 1/2 minutes. For that fuel savings I'll slow down and take 15 minutes longer for our 200 mile day. It was hard at first as I wanted to go faster but now I've adapted and find I really don't mind if someone passes me going up the hill. It's costing me less.

As for addons, I have to look at payback and return on investment. I'm not willing to spend $1,000 to save $200 in fuel per year. It just doesn't compute for me.
