toilet not holding water

I have the porcelain toilet and it's not holding water after it's used. This has happened before but after a couple of days it would start to hold water,it's been weeks now.I've cleaned all around the ball but am having no luck.Could I get some help from the pro's who have had this problem?

Try letting the valve slam shut. I this doesn't help put a little silicone grease on the underside of the seal where the ball touches it.

Three votes for calling Sealand. HOWEVER, seal in mine was replaced twice and it started leaking after a short while. I upgraded to the next model, I believe the 510. We have bounced around for 2000 miles now and it still holds water.

Also, try tightening up the clamp that holds the bowl on.

Sometimes the lip around the seal will get some residue in it and cause the leak. There is a tool that is made to clean around the seal, but a cheap, small, flat blade screwdriver (#1 or #2) bent at the tip 90 degrees about 1/2 inch will do the same thing for cleaning out the grove.

I had the same problem with mine also. I took the clamp off and removed the top half of the bowl exposing the rubber gasket. It is actually 2 pieces and I could see a ripple in the inside piece at about 12 o'clock.
I cleaned each piece and rotated the inner piece so the ripple would be at 5 o'clock thus always be in contact with the ball. Been on the road for 6 weeks now and have not had any problems holding water. Have not been that close to a toilet since early 70's and a bottle of Boones Farm but it was an easy fix. Good Luck, Jesse

After going through all my manuals looking for the literature on the toilet I finally found it taped to the water line behind the toilet and in the information was a seal repair kit witch was a tool that looked like tongue depressor with a rough end on one side at the end with instructions on how to clean the with the solution they provided and it worked good, all is well now. Thanks for the help

Ditto on the Sealand call if the cleaning tool doesn't fix it for long. I messed with mine for a while, sometimes holding water, sometimes not. Finally had the hubby change it out with the new seal kit Sealand sent free of charge and haven't had a problem since.

Tighten the clamp, every now and then depending on the roads you travel that clam need tobe looked at. Very simple. If you were closer, I would help you.

Dealer repaired ours two weeks ago with a new seal....Still doesn't hold water unless you slam the valve shut.

I guess I will call Sealand for a seal & do it myself.

Had two other Sealand toilets in the past & never had a problem.
Also no confidence in long time dealer.... they always were good, but not now. Too many new faces there..........

Mine just stopped holding water on my last trip. Are all the toilets in the newer Montys made by Sealand? I haven't looked yet to see if there is a name on it.

Lambchop,
You are supposed to let them slam shut! That is the directions provided by Sealand.

I know! I know! It let's the neighbors know what you are doing! Well tough! They do it to!

We use a toilet bottle brush to gently clean the seal every once in a while when the toilet no longer wants to hold water. Typically it stops holding water due to some toilet paper or other stuff getting stuck in the seal.

So, bottle brush ($2.01), not waking up my wife by not slamming the valve shut, priceless!

After over two year ours stopped holding water and after trying all solutions including chanting incantations while wearing the bleached skull of a buffalo on my head I called sealand and they sent me one of the new and improved seal kits and it again holds water.

Ours stopped holding water. DH thoroughly cleaned seal and sprayed on seal lubricant - so far it's holding water again.

I called Sealand about ours. Nice lady asked if I could see the seal around the hole. I told her I could see it on one side but not the other. She told me how to open the toilet, clean and inspect the seal, lube it with food quality lubricant such as Pam non-stick spray, recenter it, and see if it holds water. If it doesn't, she said to call back and she would send a new seal.
