MY 319 arrived at my dealer saterday.I was allowed to enter the unit today to try things and look around. One of the first things I noted was the lack of a radio or cd player even the owner of the dealership could not find it.We did find a dvd player and it looks like Keystone might have even given me seround sound with my tv it also looks like the dvd might have am and fm.This dvd player is made by memorex.I would like to know if anybody has seen this yet and am I really this lucky.

crandallbradley,
Congrats on the arrival of your new Mountaineer. That is great you were allowed to poke around the coach and get a look. I cannot imagine that Keystone would send a unit without dvd/cd player. If you have surround sound that works through the tv, then you are a lucky one. Most of the Quest units in the Montana's do not play through the tv, just a dvd or cd. Congrats on your new coach...

The DVD player you refer to is actually an entire Home Theater System. Probably made by “Quest.”

It will play DVDs, along with music CDs. Probably even MP3 CDs and display picture CDs.

Give it a thorough workout before you leave the dealer’s lot. Sometimes a speaker won’t be working, due to a wiring problem. Sometimes the video doesn’t display well on the TV set. And without an external antenna, reception for the radio’s function is iffy, at best. (There are loads of threads about those “Quest” units.)

But as a system goes, it’s got loads of features.

Montana Sky,

It almost sounds like you aren’t getting to watch a DVD on your Quest system. I hope not! If so, you have to switch the TV’s input to AV1, or maybe AV2, to view and hear a DVD when one’s in the Quest system.

As for “playing through the TV?” Home Theater Systems almost never output audio through a TV. They will simply use their surround system speakers. TV speakers can’t cope with the power of the theater systems’ output.

I did find that after I added a cable to the TV’s Audio Output jacks, running it to the theater system’s TV Audio In jacks, the Home Theater System then was able to use its speakers to play the TV’s audio, rather than just using the TV’s speakers. It’s only a simple stereo sound, and had to have the extra speaker features, (“Simulated Surround,”) to sound even better.

If I wasn’t so deaf, I’d probably use that more often.
