Electrical cord storage

How about a storage compartment near the electrical connection for the 50 amp cord. Using a basket is a pain and it makes it look like Montana is so cheap they can't afford a storage compartment for the electrical cord to other campers. And we all know that the Montana is a quality unit and not cheap.

I store mine in a black rectangular milk crate. I throw it either in the compartment or in the bed of the truck. A storage compartment would have to be pretty large to coil the monster in it.

I agree on the separate storage for the power cord and any improvement in overall storage. Concerning the power cord, I finally bit the bullet and purchased the 50 to 30 amp adapter and use in conjunction with my 25' 30 amp cord. The 30 amp is so much easier to handle and store. I leave the 50 amp cord at home.

Steves, I don't know if you noticed at the rally but we were using that same adapter. It's pricey but sure worth it. We also leave the 50amp cord at home, but, since home goes wherever we go...

I also like the idea of a power cord storage area near the power connection, however, looking at the design of most Montanas, I don't think it is feasable, at least without giving up some interior space.

Our last trailer, a 2000 Sea Breeze 5er had the power cord permanently connected and stored it in a compartment at the driver's side rear. That trailer had a rear kitchen and when I pulled out the drawers, I could see the boxed in area where the cord storage was.

I keep my 50 amp in a crate like NJ Hillbilly in the basement. However, on a cold morning, and you are trying to wrap that thing in to a plastic crate it can cause to you say a few choice words. I agree that if we can get a storage for the sewer line, then a similar one for the shore power is in order. At least my old Mountaineer did push in and out of the back of the TT.

Our 2001 Montana 2880RL had 30amp service. It's cord was permanently mounted and just pushed in / pulled out of its rear location. But I had lots of trouble with that floppy ring thing that holds it in place.

Native Tex, that's why I use a round laundry basket. I can feed the cord into the basket as I spin the basket. It's still a bear in cold weather but is far easier than when I used to try to coil it into a stationary basket.

That's what I like about by old Monty is the cord storage. No Mess or fuss, just push it back into the internal storage area when done. Nothing to hook up. Just pull it out and plug it in. Of course it is only 30 amp but that's all I need. Love it.

We have the 3555RL. I store my power cables (all of them - 50 A and 15ft extension; and three 30 A ) in my front storage where the batteries are. I also carry an extra 30lb propane tank there. I have ample room in there considering I changed my batteries to Lifeline AGM which take up a lot of space. I changed to these batteries because I had four 100W solar panels installed along with a 2000 W inverter. Everything is in that compartment
