Portable porch and steps

Our plan is to stay in one place for at least a couple of months at time about three quarters of the year. Has anyone used a portable step set and did it work for you? Currently I'm looking at these folks http://www.sunriservproducts.com/products.shtml but other suggestions would be welcome.

You have pretty decent woodworking skills as evidenced by the rear truck storage you made. Why don't you just make a platform and steps from treated lumber? Make your cement pad wide enough to sit the steps on and they should slide out of the way when leaving.

Problem is, I would need them at three to four locations a year, hundreds of miles apart. I need something I can fold up and haul with me.

Haven’t used anything like that but it looks like it would work for what you want it for. Looks nice too!

If you just want steps, and not a porch, CW has this item:

A lot cheaper than $1300 too...

Found this one too:

Thanks Seahunter! We rejected the camping world one because it has no way, other than shiming, to work with uneven ground. The RVsmart steps are interesting, but I would worry about the connection to the existing steps. It doesn't look very sturdy, and if you read the warranty their lawyer doesn't think it is either.

With all the improvements made over the years to our rigs coming off the line one would think some type of progress would have been made on the design of entry steps. At our seasonal lot we have a complete deck 8' x 20' that we pull up next to, Priceless!!! When we travel elsewhere our constant concern and inconvenience is those entry steps. Those sunrise models look like they would fit the bill the best IMHO, mind you just about anything would be an improvement.

I've seen these many times. I did not know they cost so much. I have also seen others who have built their own (not sure they are mobile).

But at the locations and frequency of your need, you could make that money back in convenience and portability alone the first few times of its use. Hopefully, its durability helps it last a while, then you're really talking about getting your money back the more often you break it down and reset it back up. The advantage of a porch/patio and shallower steps will be great benefits too.

Oftentimes you can do an Internet search and find the exact same thing for a lesser price. This works for me all the time with other things. Just be careful of lesser quality knockoffs.

If you're asking which one I like, then its one with "composite" steps on either side. This way it doesn't matter what direction the trailer is pointing, the dual steps provide the quickest direction for entering or exiting. I would only pick composite steps because it might last longer under whatever weather conditions. A larger patio would be a plus but this means more room next to the door is taken up.

I thought you were only going to use them at your home base pad.

Actually, that's the problem. We will finish the home base this spring, but probably won't really use it this year since we're going to be camp hosts at the COE reservoir here. We can't seem to stay in one place all that long.
