Did the Roof Today!

What a task, BUT, it sure looks pretty, some staining around ACs but otherwise looks pretty good. Need to get some Dicor protectant and rub it on. Don't plan on doing this for awhile. In case your wondering: Dawn dishwashing liquid and Awesome, plus ALOT of elbow grease. Nylon brush worked good also.......How much did I save? Who knows. Worth it to say I done it........

Phil-- Come on by Omaha and I'll let work on my Monte also! Sounds like you've now got the experience. Could be worth a good old Nebraska Steak dinner if you make it here!

Phil..don't buy any of that stuff Dicor usually gives it away at the fall rally. They give a real good seminar on roof maint that will dispel a lot of urban legends.

Well, when my roof needs it again, I'll talk diamonds to the DW and she'll do it, then I'll forget about the diamonds.

Wayne, I know you're joking, but not a job for the faint hearted. Can you say "SLIPPERY"???? I had to use an old towel to place my knees on to keep from falling off.

I did our roof while in Savannah last winter, not that it needed it, but did it anyway. I used one of those pile wax applicators to apply the roof treatment. It worked very well, I started at the front and sprayed the treatment on the roof with the sprayer bottle. Then spread it evenly with the applicator. It only took me about 20 minutes to do the whole roof. I worked from front to back so I didn't have to walk on any slippery stuff. I have checked the roof a few times since and found that it doesn't need to be washed again just yet. It appears as the rain does a good job of cleaning it off. The only spots that need work are where pine pitch has dripped on it and that comes off fairly easily with a little "Goo Gone" and a bit of roof treatment after... Dave

Wayne, I'm a believer, personally I would NEVER allow my DW to go up there. To each his own....

Phil,
That is the way the DW feels about me. She's afraid I'd fall off. She's probably right. Smart lady, but don't tell her I said that.
