Warranty Exclusion

We are in the same place that many of you have been, looking and learning about the best RV for fulltiming. Does the warranty cover the unit if it is used for fulltiming? It looks like it does not from what I have read. Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences on this wonder forum, it is very helpful for newbies.

Welcome kjtogo to the MOC family.

There any number of full time MOC members, including us, that have had warranty work done on their Montana's with absolutely no hassle from Keystone and Keystone was fully aware of these MOCers full time RVing lifestyle. In fact, many of the MOC full timers had warranty work completed LONG after the warranty has expired.
Not one MOC fulltimer has EVER been turned down for any kind of warranty work.

I second what Glen said above. We have been fulltiming, going on 3 years, and have had no problem whatsoever, on either the Warranty or Extended Warranty.

Have to agree wth the others. We have been full timing for over a year now and did have to have the Monty worked on over the summer to have our gray tank replaced under warranty. Our old service manager knew we full timed in our Monty and I made that very clear to the new service manager of our situation. No problems whatsoever.

Historically, reasonable people will get reasonable responses from Keystone. The disclaimer is lawyer talk so that if a fulltimer wanted to enter into a nasty law suit or the like, it would negate the suit. Keystone, by and large, has been a stand up company for making good on their products.

One more voice in the affirmative...we've been FT for almost 4 yrs, even had some warranty items fixed after the warranty period by coordinating w/Keystone ahead of time while on the road. No problems, and they are well aware that we are FT. They even did some minor "freebie" stuff for us at Goshen this past Sept...WAY out of the warranty period..

When I talked to Keystone about this they mentioned that they make many units that end up as rentals. This disclaimer is to protect them from the abuse that rentals receive. They also told me that they would honor any warranty problem I had if it came up even if i full timed. From all the other posts I tend to believe that Keystone is a company of their word.

Thank you everyone for the responses, this appears to be another reason to go with a Montana. It is really good to hear from so many happy campers.

The disclaimer language "not intended for full time living" seems to be about Federal regulations. House trailers, mobile homes and park models over 400 square feet have to meet additonal regulations about construction materials, technique and design. Smaller units (us) are not subject to those Federal protections/regulations. Since our "travel trailers" do not meet the regulations, Keystone wants us to understand they are not meant to. All very reasonable to me.

I full time in mine. My dealer knows it. All warrenty work has been done without hassle and completely to my satisfaction.
