Reattach Flashlight Wire Without Disconnecting Bat

Okay all you fixer uppers. I need to reconnect the flashlight charger wire which has never been hooked up since we brought Monty home. I recently figured out where the wire is and it is just sitting there disconnected. Do I have to disconnect the battery (we have two) before I hook this wire to a hot 12V wire in there? Glenn said I could attach it to the pump. I don't want to get zapped but don't want to disconnect batteries if I don't have to. Could someone with a 3400 check that wire and see where it connects. You have to take the drawers out to find it. For those not familiar with the 3400 the flashlight is just below the idiot lights, the pump switch and hot water switch at the end of the island.

Sue,

If you connect it to the wires on the water pump wouldn't you need to have the pump turned on to charge the battery. I don't have your model of Monty, but I think you need to find an unswitched pair of wires to keep flashlight charged.

I would just root around and find a hot wire, I would buy an in-line fuse from Radio Shack and wire it in to a circuit with heavy wire, one that is not switched.
No need to unhook the batteries.
Good luck,

Since there is a hot wire for the pump switch that close I recommend connecting there. One side of the pump switch should be hot at all times and that is where you want to make the connection.

Sue, I just looked at mine, wow, that's a small power wire, a 1 amp fuse would be plenty, just to protect from a dead short.
The wires to mine were right there, look around maybe they didn't make it to the last pull through.
(I am getting the info on the vacuum head, man, it works great!! I will post it over in the same thread.
Good luck.
