Boondocking overnite generator and battery power

I have a question and hope the group here can help. I have gained some valuable information from this MOC forum and I appreciate the help you all have provided without you even knowing.
Question:
The wife and I stop overnite on occasion and have a trip planned for the little World Series in Aug. we will be stopping overnite to Boondock. I am looking at purchasing a couple of 2000 watt generators to connect in parallel to run 1 of my 15000 watt A/C’s. I have a residential refer and would like to know if we run the ac from the generator can we also run the refer from the battery power using the inverter without drawing wattage from the generator?

Have never had a residential refrigerator, but we can run one AC along with the frig and the water heater with our two Honda's.

According to the specs start up of 15000 btu is 3000 to 3500 btu. I got the run covered of 1500 to 1800 covered. I just wonder with generator hooked up can you also run the residential refer on battery power and isolate the generator for ac power only.

OK, I will take a shot at answering this. Disclaimer: I don't have a residential refer so I have no experience with one. However I am somewhat familiar with inverters.

I believe Montana has installed a Magnum CWS 1012 inverter for the residential refer. This inverter only has connection to the 12V system for source power. It is totally unaware of the 120V power supply systems. Its only source is 12V and it outputs 120V. It always draws from the battery regardless of the existence of shore or generator power.

So to answer your question, Yes the refer will be driven by the batteries while your generator runs the AC (and other 120V appliances). Remember the converter will run when there is 120V power (unless you turn it off) and it will be charging the battery to replace the 12V used by the inverter.

I have attached the Magnum CWS inverter manual so you can see how it is connected to the 12V side and not the 120V source

Thanks Carl n Susan for your feedback. Our ladybug has the 2000 watt inverter but it is not a magnum brand. I do believe it is directly connected to support the fridge and only the fridge but I will have to check on that.

I do this all the time when we park at Walmart on our way to Myrtle Beach. Never had any overload problems with a 15,000a/c and have the Samsung 18 refer with 2 Yamaha 2000`s for our last High Country. I added a 3rd Yamaha 2000 to lessen the load on the other 2 but didn`t really need it.

Well I was incorrect earlier. Current models appear to have a dual input inverter with a transfer switch. The inverter is connected to both 120V AC and 12V DC power. If there is 120V power available the inverter will use it (i.e. pass it through to the refer). The 12V supply is only used if there is no 120V power. The inverter plugs into a nearby 120V outlet.

It appears the refer draw isn't enough to affect dual Hondas but if you want the inverter to draw from the 12V side you will have to unplug the inverter (or turn off the breaker if it is dedicated to it).
