Steve, they might be on the low side of reality but they're protected from rain and direct sunlight so that helps to make them more accurate in my opinion.

Ours is in the same general area as Judy's only not INSIDE the pin. Rode a number of miles that way, have yet to lose it, I believe Al screwed the bracket in, but he is not here to ask, so I might be wrong on that. We feel it is accurate. On real hot days with a lot of heat radiating off black top type sites, maybe a bit high, but we still seem to be pretty close to what the weather bug and stations are saying.

I find it a lot of fun to change the locations, so, I can monitor Tipton weather when we are in RGV, I also use the travel part for previewing state by state when are are getting ready to leave here in the winter. If I can get clear travel from each reporting station for about 3 days drive, we plan on starting the run! If there is something nasty in any one of several states, we might hold off a day or so. If there is some really snarly weather, any where in the US, I frequently use weather bug to monitor it.

There are quite a few really nice weather type sites, I just kinda like the bug!

We bought an Acurite weather station at Walmart for around $40. I ordered a second sensor for about $20. We have one sensor mounted with Velcro behind the king pin. I don't remove it for traveling. It is in the open where it can catch road spray, etc. and survived a 5500 mile trip in January from Washington to Arizona and Mexico, back up the west coast in March during some of the worst rain the coast has experienced. The second sensor we mounted in the refrigerator.
