Mattress Topper
Short of replacing the complete mattress in our 3670RL 5ver the wife and I are considering a mattress topper. What have others tried and had good luck with We are looking into the memory foam topper or feather topper, any other ideas? We are not full timing yet so the banker does not want to spend the $$ on a new mattress. My back thanks all of you in advance for any suggestions

I went to Sams Club and bought there memory foam topper for our new 2980 king size bed. I think the total cost was about 120.00. I have no trouble sleeping in the bed and it was the way to go for us. Al

We bought 2" memory foam from Walmart for our Queen size bed in our 2006 2980. It made a big differance.
Matress wasn't to great with out it. Also around $ 120.00.

I got those "eggshell" pads for both my queen bed and my hide-a-bed. Seem to really help, but am going to look into the memory foam this weekend.

We got a 2" memory foam topper, Brenda got it somewhere, but it makes the bed sleep very nice. It wants to move around the bed though. I will not just stay in place.

Memory foam, get it, like daylight and dark. Worked so good in the Monty, we had one sent over for our rock hard Chinese bed in Hong Kong. Great investment in personal comfort.

Guess at this point it is obvious the memory foam mattress topper is the way to go. We did this in our first Monty three years ago. We also added a pillow top mattress cover. With this our bed is very comfortable. In fact when we went back to the vacation house had to do the same thing to our bed to sleep as well. The memory foam mattress toppers are available in many stores. We were able to get a 3" thick one at Kohls & Costcos three years ago.

I have a horrible back so the bed at home is an expensive pillow top. One of my concerns when buying our rig was the bed. I went to Sam's and purchased the memory foam mattress topper and then cut it to the size of our bed. I also purchased a pillow top mattress cover so the topper doesn't move on the bed. The bed in the FVer is just as comfortable as my expensive pillow top at home. I can't wait until I get to spend as many nights as I would like seeing the USA.

One word! MEMORY FOAM! The best thing I have ever slept on..In fact I just bought one for the sofa bed in the trailer. Word of advice. You don't just take that thing out of the box and sleep on it.....LOL...It takes about 72 hours for that thing to fully expand. So buy it and then put it on when your aren't camping. Don't do what I did and have to wait for it to expand....LOL Here is the website.

We bought a toper and it has really made it better, So we are looking at getting the mattress to se if it can be even better, there a little $$ but if 3-4 in makes such a improvment we might try one, see if we can get those try for 30 nights free deals. THe link is where we got our topper, there out os stock it says and we got it on sale fo $62.

We put a memory foam topper on our mattress in the 5er, and like it better than the expensive mattress we have on our bed at home. As recommended above, it will take a day or two to expand fully, so be sure to allow for that. You'll love it!

I too love the memory foam, really the only way to go for the price - bang vs buck. One thing I learned though, they retain temperature. If it is cold in the rig and the foam is not covered, it will take several hours to warm up. Must be all the air in the foam cells.

When we bought the one for the bed it came with a really nice soft cover, so we haven't experienced the coolness yet.

We started with the memory foam. Like Dave said it retains temperature. In the summer it would get to warm for my liking. So we put a feather bed over it and a quilted mattress cover over that. Now its more comfortable that the bed in our stick built.

we ordered the 2-inch/4-lb foam topper from these folks (link) as well as their platinum protector. we've found it very comfortable stuff, rivaling a first-rate, pillow-topped mattress at home. it doesn't move about on the mattress since the foam clings rather well and the protector cover helps keep things in place. their website has good information on memory foam toppers.

Kathi,
Do you store the memory foam mattress folded with the sofa sleeper? How does it fold up and how long does it take once you open the sofa for the mattress to expand for sleeping? We are thinking about buying one from our local Costco just for this purpose.
