Inductive Cook Top

Try this again in a different area, posted in Whats Cooking, guess no one goes that far down the page. How many have (are using) an inductive cook top in their rig, how was it, did it or has it lasted with the vibration and bouncing these thing go thru. Thanks

I have looked at these also as a single cook top to utilize outside verses heating up the kitchen. Especially for corn on the cob etc while you have your burgers on the grill. I also wonder if they are what they are adversised to be. So I second your question and waiting for answers.

The one we picked up is 110V, single unit, 1500 watts, tried in the Montana, this evening(parked in the yard) no problem with breaker. We thought it might be good inside and out. Puts out very little heat, other then the cooking part. We are using stainless cookware, boils water really quick(that is the extent of this evenings test) Just wondering about the wear and tear from the rigors of travel. But for $65 I guess we will start hauling it around and see how it does. Hope it hold up better then Ozz's Ice Makers. They do make alot of noise (fan and magnetic field generator or something) but instructions says this is normal.

We have two of these, one for the RV and one for home. Being winter, we are using both in the house. They are great and DW does all here cooktop cooking on these. They are fast, convenient, and clean up well. The griddle option is the best. We see no problems taking one or two with us in the RV. Just secure them in the RV like anything else. http://www.nuwavecooktop.com/?ref_ve...Fag7Mgod7zkABw

You do need to have a certain kind of pan to cook with also if I remember the commercial correctly. So, is that what you all are using? Something about magnetic?

Yes, they have to be magnetic, no aluminun, if a refrigerator magnet will stick, you are good to go. Most stainless cookware is of such quality stainless, that they are magnetic

Doesn't this mean you lose your cooktop when you are boondocking? Right now we just lose the Microwave, televisions and A/C when boondocking. Everything else is available - lights, stove, oven, fridge, furnace. Off the grid means we use the cooktop, play games, and don't camp in extreme heat. I'm not sure losing the stovetop would not be good for us.

I think these are portable units, not replacing the OEM cooktop

Yep, What 8.1al said, these are seperate from your gas top. The benifit we see is very little heat is added to environment, and quick cleanup. This combined with really rapid heatup and cooking makes them seen pretty handy. Tried scrambled eggs today, really quick and easy(not that scrambled eggs are real tough :-)

Don't know if the web site that Captain Joe posted is still available but it appears on that page that you can get 2 for about $100.00 plus shipping. NuWave is usually pretty good stuff!!

Dave,
Yes, that is the deal we got. We added the griddle option and the cookware for the RV. The link I posted was current.

Not at all Art! You take it outside and build a fire on top of it.

After reading this thread I told DW about it and followed the link. Good deal on everything but the killer is the processing and shipping. They sure are proud of their shipping department but the DW wanted the free pans and such....and when the momma's happy.....
