Traveling to Canada

Need to know if any one out there has been to Canada, and if they took a pet. We take our 2 cats ( our kids ) with us everywhere. I need to know if there are any restrictions on animals going and coming to and from Canada and the US. If you know of anything please help. Planing the trip end of May.
Thanks
