Admiralty RV Resort, San Antonio

We are leaving for a week of sunshine in San Antonio at the Admiralty RV Resort. Anyone coming around drop a line and we may be able to get together.

My son and DIL are back from Iraq after 5-1/2 years (him - 13 years in Mideast for Her - 5 in Iraq) and taking her for the first time to the River Walk and other interesting places.

We are thinking about San Antonio for next winter. Any one have any recommendations? We're also looking at Corpus Cristi.

I have only stayed at Braunig Lake and Admiralty. If you get reservations early on at Braunig you can try for the "premium" sites. They are pull through with some back ins but all have an adjacent parking slab for your TV. They are much nicer than the regular pull throughs which are close together. Some of the regular back-in space are wider than the regular pull throughs.

At Admiralty, all the pull throughs are the same, and are close. A picnic table has to be pulled to under one slide a little for passage if there is someone parked next to you, but over all they are nice. The back-ins have adjacent slab parking and give it that little wider look.

Both CG's are clean and have good activites in the evenings. Both have dog runs. Admiralty is more expensive. Braunig is full time Passport America for 50% reduction. Braunig is 5 or 6 miles closer and easier to down town San Antonio.

You can bring up Microsoft Live Maps and get a satellite view of each.

We looked at the Admiralty but felt they crowd you in too much. We went to the Blazing Star (Jan and Feb of this year) and loved it. I think Admiralty has more activities if that's your thing. But the Blazing Star is more visually appealing. And quiet. At least site 914 was. The staff at Blazing Star is absolutely amazing. We had both the truck and car with us so I backed up on our concrete pad so the rear of the Montana was hanging off the rear quite a ways so we could park both truck and car on the pad. I slighly misjudged how close one of the big trees was and the big slide wouldn't quite open all the way. The lady next door said to call the office. I did and in two minutes flat they were out there, ready to cut a tree limb to accommodate us.

The Admiralty is slightly cheaper on base rate but we would have had to pay electricity there. At Blazing Star, electricity is included in the rate, as is cable tv. I figured we came out better overall not paying separate electricity charges.

The Admiralty is not a bad choice, we just liked Blazing Star much better. They're only a couple miles apart.

Thanks Steve. I'll have to look into Blazing Star the next time we go to SA. It's nice to diversify.

I didn't mean to boo hiss The Admiralty. It's a decent park. Whichever park you chose, San Antonio is a good destination. At least we enjoyed our two months there.
