These cords are available already made for this.
I use one that is 25 ft long that I bought from Camping World. They are available on line also.

Why not use a 50 amp cable as you are tryiny to put 5 lbs in a 3lb box you can use a 50 amp cable and plug it in a 30 amp plug with a adapter but to put a 30 lb cable and adapt it to 50 amps you are looking for trouble john

Do you mean a 30 amp on the pedestal and 50 amp on the trailer? If so just jumper the two power pins together in the trailer connector. REMEMBER you still cannot use a second AC or washer/dryer. You would however have a cord that is much easier to handle.

Why would you want to do that. You could use a 30-amp male to 50-amp female adapter just as cheap and you wouldn't have to worry about how to wire it. I hope you're not thinking of using a 30-amp cable to plug into 50 amp CG power. If so, you're in trouble.

Hi Don,

I bought a 30 amp RV extension cord from Canadian Tire, cut the female end off and bought a 4 wire marinco connector and put it on the 30 amp cord.
Like bigmurf said, you will have to put a jumper between the two power pins. It would probably be cheaper to buy a cord already made from Camping world in Burlington. Up here on the Sunshine Coast the 50 amp Marinco connector cost me about $130 & and 30 Amp cord from CT was about $50. So check it out.

I use the 50 amp to 30 amp pigtail adaptor you can get at CW or other places.

I bought a 50 amp to 30 adapter and a 10 ft 30 amp cord and plugged them together for the campgrounds that the pedestal is in the rear and use that a lot. Where the two plug together I taped the two to keep the weather out. This has worked great for us. Also I have the 30 foot long cord in case I need more cable.
