Extended warranty

We bought a 5 year extended warranty with our 2016 374fl.
Ironicly, since we bought, my wife has quit doing mortgages, and went to work for our rv dealer, as their financial assistant.
She has ext. Warranty class today, and tomorrow.
We have the platinum warranty.
Reading up on it, it covers alot, plus the tow vehicle. Up to and including air fare, and hotels.
We are thinking, money well spent.

Since we are high end users we have had extended warranties on both our Montana's since 2006 and have used them several times..BTW they are not extended warranties but service contracts. We now use Cornerstone and have used others with not a single problem with any of them. Read the contract, understand the contract and adhere to the terms of the contract. No we do not expect to get our money back they are not a financial investment.

It only pays if you if you have more in claims than cost of plan.

Why is it expected for a extended warranty to pay off or get your money back.

Nobody really wants to use their contract because that means you had problems that necessitated claims. It is only a hedge bet that the cost of the plan will be less than the cost of actual repairs if needed.

I guess I'm not understanding some of you about the service contract paying off or getting money back.
We got it for when we are out enjoying life, if problems rear their ugly head, we have some help.
Ours, besides paying for items, or repairs, is also kinda like triple A.
I don't care if I never use it, and paid. It's peace of mind to me.

We are currently on our third Montana and have never bought an extended warranty and IF I had it would have been a waste of money. If a person is somewhat handy I don't see the value in one but on the other hand my wife does't work for a dealer that sells them.

My wife starting to work there, after we bought our 5er, which, by the way is our 3rd from this dealer, has nothing to do with us having the service contract. She was in training about them, and went into detail, all that it covers.
I am very handy, and can fix, repair, or replace, many things, we'll say, in life.
It's the services provided.
Tire repair or replacement on unit and/or tow vehicle, a/c units, heater, fridge, slide motors, tv's, dvd players, leveling motors/systems, etc.
Also, if stranded while camping, hotels, even airfare, to get you home or ? Need to find out more about that one....

to late for you, but, as consumers reports states it is a gamble and you have to decide if it is worth it.
https://www.consumerreports.org/exte...ensive-gamble/

in my experience it is never a thing I'd consider, but, each to their own. A lot of the same coverage is under you trailer insurance and the item 1 to 2 years under the trailer warranty.

We bought used, as is. So the extended coverage or I should say the service contract extending anything from the trailer warranty to ask for 5 Years From date of purchase. Also we can cancel it anytime, and get a full refund on a prorated amount.

Same as MxBoynd above on our first EW we got a prorated amount back when we sold our RV. Some of the failures may be covered under you RV insurance but a lot is not and that is what I am buying a EW for. We are high end users with over 60K miles on this 13 3402 and we live in it most of the year. We have a inner bearing disintegrate in the left rear wheel on the Montana on I-95 last April causing the wheel to begin to separate from the Montana a trucker waved us in a weigh station before the wheel came off. We made two phone calls one to Keystone customer service to find out where the nearest Montana Dealer was and their advise was do not move it. Second call to our Warranty Company who found us a mobile rv repair service and approved the 750 Repair as everything in the hub was destroyed. We Never broke a sweat and only lost 4 hours of travel time.

And THAT, is one reason why we have a 5 year service contract.

We are thousands ahead for not buying coverage. Not to mention coverage for previous units. Throw in several new cars and that adds up. Then figure deductibles and items not covered and there is a few more bucks. If peace of mind is the issue, put the cost of a plan into a savings account and draw off that for repairs.

Not that I'm rich or anything, but I sure don't penny-pinch and worry about things like that.
Oh, and if it's something we can wait on, and take it to our dealer, the deductible is only 50 bucks.
