Norcold fridge outside noise

We have had our 3160 for a couple of months now.
While sitting outside by the fridge vents , I notice a noise occasionally. It is not as loud as the noise made while fridge is running on gas but similar . Seems I am hearing it more and more often. I didn't notice it the first month .I have it set on auto mode, temp set at 7. Is this a normal noise? I don't always hear the noise when fridge is running. Also , the fresh food right hand door doesn't always latch . How often should the freezer be defrosted?
